Running Boards / Steps?

Thats great. My 2500HD AT4X AEV edition is taller off the ground. The two step entry into the truck involves a 30" two step climb (unless I leap into the truck). The top of the extended factory steps is exactly 16" off the ground, that being the first step of the 30" climb into the vehicle; then its 14" from top of retractable/deployed steps into the vehicle floor (with rubber mat). It’s all a bit too much for my 5'2" wife. I used to own a Ford Expedition but this truck is taller. She does manages ok, however does not relish the experience of getting into and exiting the truck.
Mine is the 2500 HD AT4X AEV as well, my wife must just have longer legs. Lol

Ordered my HD AT4 last month without the AT4 Preferred Plus package as I need the extra headroom that not having the sunroof offers. But I added the AMP retractable boards fo the look and to make it easier for the wife and daughter to climb in. Just a personal thing but I like the option to lower them to clean or to potentially help guard against door attacks. So removing the sunroof and adding the power boards save me a little money and gives the wife some assistance getting in.

What do you mean by the option to lower to clean/help with door attacks?

So you can retract the steps "lower them" and keep them in the deployed position so you can use them to step up to help clean your trucks roof line, hood, etc.
Sure if you're 8' tall :D . I like them lowered when I'm washing the truck avoiding a need to leave a door ajar to undeploy steps.

I don't like the look of any factory steps and they are too high up.
AMP steps tuck away nicely, can't even tell they are there except when the door is open.

The only reason I opted not to go retractable was the amount of snow I end up with melted and refreezing in areas where I think it might interfere with the running boards. I haven't seen it happen to anyone but I didn't want to find out the hard way that the steps would break from either an obstruction of ice forming preventing them from closing or failing to open and finding out they weren't there.

Anyone had issues with theirs?

Drove through a couple or more feet of snow last winter in BC Canada, no issues at all. The next morning, with truck left out in the cold with steps retracted, there was ice around the steps, however nothing prevented them from opening, before I knocked frozen ice chunks out.
