Remove AT4X grille emblem

You need to remove the plastic cover you will see if you pop the hood. Remove hood latch first then plastic fasteners and screws that hold the plastic assembly in place. That gives you some room to get behind the grill. You should be able to pull the top of the grill out some just by pulling on it. It has spring clips that hold it on. Won’t be able to take off fully unless you remove side trim pieces. But u can get enough room to get a very long flat blade screw driver or trim tool behind it to push each of the plastic tabs free that hold the emblem on to the front grill. Take your time to free each one as you pull on the emblem to work it off. I took mine off that way, then have since removed the grill twice, once to repaint the peeling Vader chrome, the other time to install horns behind the grill.

I replaced the grille emblem and the 1500 AT4X grille emblem was the easiest removal of any so far. A small plastic pry tool popped them off easily and the black ones snapped in with out having to remove grille or access the back of the badge. I also got a black replacement GMC emblem and Hyperdipped the edges in bronze to match the grille but the hydrodip didn't last beyond the first wash and the edges on 2 letters started peeling.

I just ordered a black AT4X grille emblem and I am wondering if there pop off easily or should I remove the grille?
It’s very easy to do without removing the grill. The plastic inserts in the letters can be pried off, then take a flat head screwdriver and release the tabs on the letters. I did mine in 15 minutes
