Afternoon folks! New GMC owner here, purchased a 2026 GMC Yukon XL AT4 (6.2, 4WD) this spring. We have a 2015 Land Cruiser, and I used to have a 2018 Tundra but had to trade that in for more space now that we are caretakers for my mom.
My question is around towing capacity vs. interior capacity. I see online that the standard towing capacity is 7,300 pounds and the maximum interior payload weight capacity is 1,380 pounds.
I'm pulling a trailer tonight with a total weight of 4,155 lbs (cargo and trailer combined) and roughly 858 lbs of people and another 100lbs of gear in the vehicle too. So this is roughly 56% of the max towing capacity 69% of maximum interior capacity. Is there anything I should do besides activate Tow/Haul mode?
Sorry for the novice question, I towed quite a bit in my Tundra but it was just me and the dog in the interior so I'm curious if anybody has feedback or perspective.
