My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X truck was at the dealer for the past 4 months for an engine replacement, radiator replacement, and then a lane assist / adaptive cruise control fix. That's a long story and I've just updated a prior thread. When I picked up my truck from the dealer, the passenger power mirror wouldn't stow or retract at all and I noticed it after getting home. I did the manual close and open per the manual and after a couple tries and "sleeping on it", it started working (sort of) the next morning. I also let my service rep know this was happening the same evening that I picked up my truck.

I took my truck back to the dealer today and they said the mechanism is going out. My best description is that the movement is inconsistent. It now folds most of the time. When it opens or closes, the movement is about twice as long as the driver's side mirror. When it moves, it has a jerky motion.

Does anyone have experience with doing a remove and replace of either a driver or passenger mirror mechanism? The dealer quoted me $1,151.30 (parts + labor) assuming that they can reuse the cover. If the cover can't be reused, that's another $50 + $250 to paint match.

Open to any ideas or suggestions. Note - this is at my local Chevy dealer ( I originally went there out of convenience but have taken a mental note to go to the GMC dealer that is a bit further away to try to get higher quality service).
