OnStar and connected services

I used to have a lifetime subscription Mercedes-Benz mbrace on my Benz, then the wireless carrier retired their 3G network in 2022. I did not consider their crappy Hum by Verizon device.
I know a lot of folks weren't happy with that change. Not that I'm dissatisfied with my AT4, but I think I may go back to Benz when I'm in the mood for a new vehicle. Starting to miss some of the first world nice-to-haves like the distronic system and engage the parking brake with a jab of the brake pedal, although it's not too difficult to press the button.

Benz is a Benz. I'll never part with my V6 diesel Benz, I put a lot into it, driven 90,000 miles since new in 2007, its my summer runaround since its rwd, a dream to drive. On the truck I rarely, if ever, use its parking brake, then again its the same with the Benz unless I'm parking on a slope/incline.

We utilize the "free" services (Remote and Connected Access) on our vehicles until they expire. Then, I pay monthly for the Remote Access like on the HD since the trial has expired. Otherwise, I pay for the onboard Wi-Fi as needed, e.g., for hunting or traveling (which reminds me I need to cancel it again).

You don't need a Wi-Fi subscription for the wireless CarPlay to work. It works in all of our GM vehicles, and I currently have the Wi-Fi subscription in one truck.

I dunno, I called they were super nice, asked for whatever they could do to help me.. got two month free, then $35 a month including the wireless data (which is connected car so it’s $20 (if paid annually) of the $35.. sit it’s $15 a month.. I wish I could pay annually but I see it as super cheap and makes the bag feel safer

Apparently Onstar is prepared to negotiate.
