Oil Use of 2+ quarts between oil changes 2021 AT4 Sierra

I bet they are replacing the cooler and will have to remove grill. I haven't seen a ranchhand personally, but if the grill guard doesn't unbolt from the bumper, well, there is the reason.
Very likely. They find any reason to charge. If his bumper is like this screen shot, then they have plenty of working space to remove the grill. Also, $450 for 15 minutes to take off and another 15 to put on is insane.

There is room between the two.

Dear Members:

My 2021 1500 AT4 Sierra uses between 1.5 to 3 quarts of oil between oil changes and has done so since 4 months after buying it new in 2021. I could not believe it then and I cannot believe it now still after 65,000ish miles. It is the 6.2L gas engine. Anyone else have this issue. I bought a new truck so I would not have to deal with a 250,000 mile oil burning engine.

I have always associated burning oil at that rate with a bad engine. GM does not seem to care and have mentioned that this is normal. I have never heard of such a thing. If it was normal then burning oil at the rate of this would happen in all engines and in fact new engines across the board do not do this.

Suggestions?

John
I just purchased a 22 AT4 with the 6.2. 31,000 miles on it. The first time I checked the oil it seemed low. I added close to a half quart. I’m at thirty thousand and some change now. Checked the oil today and it was down on the dipstick again. I’m going to guess a half quart because i haven’t added it yet. I myself am a little worried. Nicest newest thing I’ve ever had and I made the leap for the exact reason of not wanting to worry about stuff going wrong for a long while. Have an 03 Sierra that doesn’t leak or burn a drop between oil changes. I’ve heard that a little consumption is normal and I’ve heard that it’s not. I don’t want to have the truck at the dealer for a period of time if it’s not something that will be addressed? Like to know what you find out

For the oil consumption issue, I did see where GM discovered there was a cracked weld in the valve cover/pcv system. So basically the PCV was sucking oil out of the top end. Fix was to replace the part with the new updated one for the LM2 motors. Seems to have fixed it for many users. This could also cause leaks else where as the crankcase pressure will be higher and push oil out of other seals.

Welcome.

I can't believe they're still dealing with the valve cover oil consumption issue. This was so prevalent in the 07-14 models. Fix was the dorman updated valve cover

Yes sir. My wife's old Cruze did the same back in 2011. I haven't had any issues with my 24 so far, and I don't think it was all LM2. Just a bad run of valve covers that were causing the issue.
