Looking for some education...I have a 2021 3500 AT4 with the 6.6 V8. Let me start by saying I am not at all knowledgeable about cars and trucks. I bought the truck to tow my 7-8k lb camper (which I am also new to). Anyway, we took our first big trip towing the camper, 9 weeks 6250 miles. I had a flash of the low oil light, but then it disappeared, so I manually checked and I was in fact low, so I added a quart. I also checked underneath to look for indications of a leak, but saw none. It happened 2 more times on the trip. When I got back, had an oil change and asked them to check if there was any leaks and again, none. I called the dealer to see about that and they told me that it us not unusual to consume oil while towing. Is this something I should expect to see? Is there anything to do to prevent and lastly and most importantly, are there any long term issues that could arise from this?

Thank You

Mine were oil eaters during break-in. Which seem to be 12k miles if I remember, which surprised me. Wasn't towing nearly as long as you, but heavier.

Now, I don't even check the oil between changes. But I still don't tow as many miles as you. So that might be a variable.

I also use 15w40 year round.
