Oil change time ?

To expand on my original question.... what's you feeling the fuel filter gauge percentage meter on the dash ?
I have roughly 18,500 miles on my truck and it reads 44% never been changed since purchased new.

I do 15k miles on the fuel filter.

I would change 1x year.

Like Oct/Nov, right before the weather starts to freeze up.

That % reading is the manufacturers recommended interval so going by that isn't going to void anything. Anybody that recommends changing their oil at 3K has never used an oil analysis program.

I don't need to waste my money on oil analysis every 6 months to decide whether to change my oil or not. Especially when the analysis costs roughly 35% the cost of an oil change at best. If I didn't keep my vehicles for 10+ years at a time I would absolutely be following the recommended 7500-10000+ mile intervals knowing the vehicle will be disposed of before an issue ever arises as a result.

I have used the oil life monitor with no problems. Usually ends up being between 5-8k. I keep trucks for a long time/high miles as well and never had an issue.

I use the oil life gauge in the truck and haven't had any issues.

Whatever interval you decide make sure to check the dipstick on a regular biases. I change mine very 5k but also add about a quart of oil in that timeframe as they tend to burn oil.
