Key fob only works intermittently

Solved! I replaced the stock truck battery. It was reading 12.5, and one time 12.3 volts after resting. This was while still connected, but truck completely off. After running the engine for just a couple minutes it would read 12.8 with truck off, and remote start would work. I got an Optima Yellow Top which has a fully charged resting state of 13.0 - 13.2 volts. I read *somewhere else* that the ideal voltage required for Sierra remote start operation is 12.66 volts. The truck sat all night and remote start just worked normally. Happy Shark! 😊

Thats good news. I keep my truck batteries topped up with a charger if not planning use for a few days.

Just read all this now and was going to suggest re opening/closing the hood. I think there is a sensor there to prevent the remote start if the hood is open.
