Sure is different from how we used to grow corn… but then combines didn’t have AC, stereos, and GPS tracking either…
I've always been fascinated by the latest generation of farm equipment, particularly the JD Combine harvester and thought it would be fun to drive with its harvesting features; I'm not a farmer but a technology guy.
My JD app tracks my mowing path, time and engine hours on my X758 diesel mower; thats only about as advanced my ground maintenance equipment is.
I'll figure out a way to use the GMC hotspot on 2.4gHz too; advantage is it comes on almost instantly.
That’s amazing. My wife’s dad, now almost 90, was a John Deere mechanic for almost 40 years. For his last twenty years he worked primarily on combines. The advancements in technology (and cost!) over the last 25 years since he retired are mind-boggling.It's so much more enjoyable. A person can go 12hrs behind the wheel and not be completely wore out at the end of the day. I'm on a RTK correction, which is capable of steering at sub 1 inch accuracy, year after year.
Further investigation revealed the GMC Hotspot is transmitting on both 2.4gHz and 5gHz bands however without a data plan, its not a substitute for a hub hence does not permit connecting smart devices. I am investigating further. The GMC hotspot seems only to transmit on 5gHz band; I thought it would be dual band. Any comments from anyone?
