Too add a tidbit to this thread, since my 2023 AT4X is currently in the shop with bricked electronics, and the local GM service manager is the one who came out to my house to help me with this issue (truck is currently at the dealership with them trying to figure out the problem), while I was riding with him as he took me back to my house, I told him about my "service emissions systems" issues on my 2020 AT4 3.0 truck, which caused me to trade that truck off. He said the 3.0 diesel does have more issues like mine had than the HD diesel engine does, but that is mostly because the bigger HD diesel engine is more mature (been around longer). But that the complex DEF emissions systems all these newer diesel trucks has (thanks EPA) is the real culprit - there are just so many sensors and other things that take only one thing throwing a code to put your truck into limp mode, the chances of this happening are far higher than pre-DEF diesel trucks. FWIW, this guy was driving his own hd Dodge Ram diesel and told me he deleted it years ago for the reasons mentioned above.
He told me he knows a few people with the 3.0 engine who have been able to "delete" it. He said it is not real easy, but once it is deleted, it takes pretty much all of these possible issues off of the table. He said the people he knows who deleted their 3.0 diesels were very happy with the results - more power, better MPG and no DEF or emissions system crap to deal with. He said if I ever got another GM truck with the 3.0 diesel that I wanted to delete, he could get me in touch with the right people to get that done.
Just a tidbit I thought was interesting coming from a GM dealerships service managers own mouth.
