Got hood done today. Turned out great!

General motors should put functional ram air hoods on their trucks, at least the deisel ones. Force feeding air into a turbo always helps. Air in / air out is the key. Tape on hood scoops wont do it.
I bet gm doesn't ram air anymore than necessary. I would think it would hurt fuel mileage.

They put those damn louvers in, saying it's for aerodynamics/fuel mileage. Anything to meet cafe standards.

I never said it did not look good. The body shop did a great job with it. What I said was If I was to put one on my truck it would need to be functional. I am looking for a Ram air hood to go with the CAI installed. I have not found one yet that I like.
I have installed a S&B cold air intake and resinator bypass on my 23 AT 4. I get pretty good milage in it. on the high way im and between 30.1 & 31.5 per gallon around town stop and go traffic 28.
The next thing I will be doing is suspension work, front control arms and shocks to level it all the way around. The truck rides like a boat, rocking and hopping around when I hit uneven road on the high way. I have Michelin tires on it. nothing huge 275 x 70 x 20. they are great rain tires which I need on the highway.

Not sure how much more functional a ram air hood would be. Factory air box has a duct coming from the grill to feed air into it. I guess you could have the top of the filter box open and underhood duct to it, sealing with the hood closed, but I doubt it would pull more air than the grill duct. The bigger thing is getting rid of the intake resonator and using a large smooth intake pipe to feed less restricted air, which a CAI accomplishes.

Yea, I have done all of that, and i agree. The intake tube and resonator have all ready been swapped out. I am not doing much of antthing else to the engine. I do not want to hear anymore noise then I all ready do. I am way to old for that s**t. No need to draw attention to myself with noise.
Moving on to suspension and control arms. To enhance the stability.
