Gas Milage

FYI, I usually do the calculations after fill up to see if there is any difference from the truck computer. Mine are a bit higher by .2 mpg.
My 2018 Duramax was the opposite. The truck computer always read more than what the actual was from the pump and my own calculations.
Also, as a whole, I think I'm only down about 3 maybe 4 mpg with this 6.6 Gas as compared to my Duramax.
I just didn't need the diesel anymore, with the weight I tow it just was overkill and I had so many issues with my L5P, I was over it. Constantly at the dealer for something. (Insert CA Lemon Law here) and got all my money back!
I think this was consistent across all brands. People often called the truck computers “lie-o-meters”, because they read 1 to 3 mpg high, but they have all gotten much better over the last few years. Also, with the diesels, it’s especially important to wait 30 seconds and then top off, because it’s so prone to foaming. If you’re filling an empty tank quickly that can make a huge difference and, if you don’t give it time to settle, sharply reduce your mpg calculations and cause you to think you have a smaller range on a full tank.

I have a bit under 500 miles on mine and I'm averaging 13.7 and I'm not driving aggressively yet. If I do decide to drive aggressively, I'll probably have to post some new content to my Only Accountants profile to help pay for it. My 2019 Silverado 2500 HD was getting a bit under 19 in mixed use.

24 L8T 3500 - I just took my longest trip yet, about 2.5hrs. I averaged 16.5 mpg. My best trip ever saved at the left of my fuel economy meter is 17.5 mpg. Definitely impressed at 16 and 17 mpg for a gas HD truck.
The 17.1 averaged out to 16.5 after getting off the highway.
How did you do that?

Awhile back I almost did 16 mpg on my last trip to a river. It was a freeway with gradual hills. It was a roughly 2hr trip, with speeds around 85-95 for about 30 mins . (Indian reservation)

I didn’t notice my MPG until the return trip, after I got off the freeway and filled up on gas.

Fuel milage seems to be a regional thing for me. I get 16/17 in Florida I think due to the flat terrain and low speed limits. 60mph seemed to be the most common. It drops as the speed limits go up and also any hills effect it a good bit.
I changed my avg fuel milage settings from 50 miles to 450 and it dropped the best from 17 to 15 and as I made my way back from Florida to Texas it dropped down to 13ish. That was with me setting the cruise at the speed limit.
