Anybody out there having the same problem as I am? When towing, the DEF gage is very unreliable......it will show near empty and when I go to top it off I can't put more than 1 gallon in. On my last trip, again while towing, my DEF gage actually increased 1/4 tank over the space of 1 hour of driving. I also filled it up one time and the gage kept reading near empty.

There's a service bulletin to get the DEF system recalibrated so you don't have the issue you're explaining. I had it reprogrammed twice, and the second time was after the service bulletin. Been good ever since then.

So, you are going to love this, just picked up my truck from the dealership and the SB ONLY applies IF you engine throws a code......mine did not. The dealership pushed it up the ladder to GMC and they denied the dealership's request to reprogram it and they denied the request to replace the sensor. I also have a written copy of the conversation between the dealership and GMC and it actually says " Customers need to be encouraged to ignore the gauge under these conditions until the warning strategy indicates a specific speed limitation will be reached". I mean, what the actual F?

Yes, and it gives you an actual percentage level that doesn’t depend on current usage rate like the factory gauge does.

Welcome.

As stated the def gauge is a wonky design, at best.
