That is the common answer and general thought but my hang up is “run the plates and find your address”. Where and how is that done exactly? I have no clue how I would actually do that if I wanted too.

I don’t see that actually happening. More likely my address from an online purchase being taken and some kind of fraud or targeting from that. That info is stollen daily.

I see and take your point.
No reason to not protect your privacy when you can especially when a visual display is seen in a vast medium with a young daughter, nice home, or other things a criminal or mentally distressed person may be interested in.

YOU TUBE travel influencers with nice vehicles, attractive women always post their videos a month after they visit a location for good reasons and always blurr their license plates. I understand why.

We've been camping in the middle of the desert and at 2:20 AM with a "fan" pounding on our RV door.
That really frightens the girls, and maybe one has to experience it to get that feeling.
Don't find out the hard way to protect your privacy.

I can't find it, maybe the poster deleted her You Tube account but there was this attractive girl with a class C motorhome posting her adventures RV camping.
She made the mistake of showing her license plate in one video.
Her last video was her hysterically crying about scary men that were showing up at her home and disturbing letters she was receiving in the mail.

Most people who see license plate in passing by are not writing it down, sure they can, but they generally have less interest in doing so.

The warped minded people, I feel, are more likely to stalk someone they see online.....as their minds live in a different anonymous world that the Internet can help foster .....so an easy access target of interest to someone, can more easily be tracked down with photos of identifying information. I used to try to not post . ...I have become lax at it

Why do people hide their license plate when posting a picture of their vehicle online, but drive all day long in public with it uncovered?

Because on here you have (at least) 2 pieces of information, out in public all anyone has is one. Not that hard to grasp is it?
