Cold weather grill cover

Been there! I got red Velcro cord wraps. When I pull the wrap off the charger cord to plug in to truck or jeep I then place the red Velcro wrap on the steering wheel. Have to get out, unplug the cord and secure with the wrap. Works well for me so I don’t do that again.

Do the same thing with my motorcycle disk brake u lock. I put a cord on that that goes up to my handle bar clutch lever. Always paranoid I will take off with the u lock on and rip up my bike.
I like that idea! Gonna grab a relcro strip when I’m out today!

Wait a minute, what's gogin on here?
I plugged the block heater in on Big Blue one night. Came out the next morning and he wouldn't fire, just crank and crank.

This is Big Blue...

Picture shows the block heater (circled) wiring harness melted from element all the way back to the bumper. Melting shit down on the front diff.

It also melted the 12v engine wiring harness in multiple areas.

This would have been early '22. 9000 miles on it. If'n you remember that time period, shit was shut down and hard to get. Truck was down waiting on a complete engine wiring harness. I gave up on g m and started to source a harness myself.

Remember East Palestine? Major train wreck. Did you know BNFS also derailed in Ohio a month later? Hauling brand spanking new 2500/3500 GMC trucks. Saw videos on You tube of them removing destroyed trucks from the derailed cars.

Month later on carpart, I found a wiring harness for a 22 duramax from a auto dismantler in Ohio! Turned out it was also listed on ebay with pictures. The following pictures are from Big Blues donor truck! $259.99 for the complete harness.

I took the harness into my dealer. He pulled some magic out of the hat and was approved by g m.

g m paid 8 months of my truck payment, gave me 3 years of service (good for 6 oil changes) extended the bumper to bumper warranty for 6 years (except for paint) and 50,000 gm points. I made out like a bandit. And being it was down over planting season and I needed a HD truck, I bought Malcolm and that brought me to here to AT4 forums, typing to you...

Wow, what a journey. Was the melt down a fluke? Should I be concerned plugging mine in?

I use mine all the time. Not worried about it as I don't park in the garage attached to the house.

Snip...
General Motors has recalled over 331,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks due to a fire risk associated with the engine block heater. The issue arises from potential short circuits caused by coolant leaks that can come into contact with the heater's electrical wiring, leading to fires.

It's in your owners manual that your truck will burn to the ground 🤣 ...

I know is not funny, but beings my truck made it thru the ordeal, I'm allowed to laugh.

I think I'll stick to my Himalayan heat recipe; burn wood under the tank. Need to check if its steel or plastic of course :)
