Looking for some advice on getting my truck ceramic coated/coating.
- What's everyone's experience?
- How much should it cost?
- Does it really last 7 years?
My truck got a hnudreds of tiny specs of song bird poop on it and it sat for a couple weeks. When I went to get it off it was way too late. I tried washing failry aggressiv ewith a licro fiber, bug and tar rmover, thumnail, nothing worked. Any advice?

I use this stuff. Works great on hard water spots on paint or on ceramic coating. It is very effective on removing bird crap residue that is very much like hard water spots.

If that doesn’t work, time to break out the DA, medium pad, and cutting compound to take the clear coat down a bit to clear the gunk as well as prep for ceramic.

If you are going to have someone else do the ceramic they should be doing the paint correction and prep anyway which will take care of the bird poop spots prior to applying ceramic.

I haven’t seen any ceramic that really goes strong after 4-5 years

Awesome thanks, and sorry for not proofreading. Is there a spell check on this site?

Try using a clay bar on the bird poop. That should remove it from the paint. If the acids in the poop etched the paint, try using a polishing compound on it.

As john151ama says, if you're going to have the ceramic professionally done, they will do all of the paint correction first. Make sure whoever you choose to do it, that they say they will do it.

I was going to get my AT4 ceramic coated. A local place quoted me around $1500 IIRC, since the truck was new. I held off. I am currently using Cerakote Platinum Rapid Ceramic Paint Sealant. Pretty easy to apply. Says it will last up to 50 car washes. Just put a second coat on and the truck is looking great.

I have had two cars ceramic coated. One I did myself, Audi A6, and it took 3 days with the paint prep, clay, wax, wash and coating. Came out okay for a beginner and lasted several years before I sold it. The most recent car, Sierra 1500 AT4, I had professionally done and it cost $1400. Had it done by a company who has a contract with Lamborghini, McLaren, Range Rover, Aston Martin and Rolls Royce near where I live. I would pay that money again in a heartbeat. Car washes easier, looks cleaner and water beads right off. The coating was applied 2 or 3 times and comes with a 10 yr warranty. Only thing I wold have done different is to get full front PPF, as ceramic coating wont do too much if a rock is coming your way at speed, but with that said I have driven the truck for over a year with no chips or scratches.
