Bracket between tailgate and bed

There is not much difference between the 1500 and the HD's. The 1500's don't have that contraption. I will be removing mine on the AT4HD, come spring, when it warms up to install the putco bar.

There’s a gigantic difference in a 1500 and HD. Payload and towing capacity are practically double. The frame and bed flex under heavy load, the teeth were designed to keep the tailgate alignment to the frame rail. Which prevents the hinge points from binding and crushing the bushings or tailgate when load shifts.

The truth about that bracket is for tailgate weight. It has something to do with how much weight you can put on the tailgate. I removed mine for the light bar and no issues. I don’t put huge amounts of weight on my tailgate anyway that’s what the bed or my trailer is for.
