Bluetooth no longer discoverable / Apple CarPlay stopped working

I was having issues with mine and I went in to settings (Iphone 12 Promax), scrolled down to general and clicked on car play. When you see your vehicle tap it and turn off and then turn car play back on. Now it happens maybe once out of 20 times and I have to freaking go back and repeat. It is better, but not 100%. I have had the data plan for the last 18 months and just had it turned off since I don't drive it for work anymore. I had to reset it again :(, but it has worked since then.

Not totally related but just an example between two vehicles and the carplay connection. I bought a new 2024 C8 3LT Z51 Corvette coupe this past Saturday. Left the dealership with 3 miles on it, my iphone was connected and I had downloaded and set up the myChevrolet app which is essentially just like the myGMC app I have. Used the same login and password on the Chevy app no issues. My iphone has connected every time with no delay to the Corvette Carplay. The Corvette is identical to the GMC except a 8" screen verses 13.4" in the GMC. Not one hiccup, yet. My truck on the other hand has connectivity issues 80% of the time and is really slow to bring up the infomat seems the big GMC video goes on way too long and the phone doesn't connect. The Corvette has not had a OTA update yet it still reads up to date. My truck has had 5 since January when I bought it and one says installing but you cannot click on it or anything. It is like it hung up or something. I can see the update number which is not listed in the all updates installed list. So I think this is a GMC issue with their forced OTA updates which is corrupting the infomat in the truck somehow. Just a guess and casual observation between two similar operating system under the same big roof.

Mine got so sporatic I took it to dealer. They updated it with a an update from nov 2023 and it works now but on way home the navigation in google maps was not working. Called back dealer of course clueless, called onstar, started rough with the girl then she kind of figured it out. Had to unistall google maps then reinstall and it started working again. Then my park assist was staying off. I cut truck off opened drivers door for 2 minutes closed door recranked truck and it reboot the system and park assist back on. Very frustrating for a truck with only 6800 miles on it and 1 year old. Dealer never called back to check up on me. Figures

Did you try rebooting the entire system?
Hold in the phone hang up button for more than ten seconds until the system shuts down. Turn the truck off. Open the door to get the system completely off. Start the truck. It will boot up and things will start working again. Works for me every time. Google is junk.

I have less than 600 miles on my '24 2500HD and my wireless CarPlay has been sporadic since nearly day 1. My truck was delivered to the dealer in November '23 and sat on the lot until I purchased it in January. I wonder if the update came out after they received the truck? Could you check the version of the Google Android OS on your HU please? I'd like to compare.

This system is literally making me regret the entire purchase, that's how frustrating it is.

Mine started out that way also…an update should fix the CarPlay bug…Plus make sure your phone has the latest update.

I don't doubt the update fixed it, I just want to verify that I do (or don't) already have the right version so I don't waste mine and the dealer's time. And my phone is always up to date.

If someone that's had the update done could check the version for me, I'd appreciate it. Go into the Settings, and:

I'd appreciate it. :-)

Thanks!

Here's mine...Hope it helps! Sorry it's sideways! Probably not much, as it's the same as yours.

And did you have the recent update done? If so, it looks like we have the same version.
I did not update it, but I had it at the dealership last month, so my guess is they updated when there.

For what it is worth, when I first got my truck I connected it to my home wifi so it could download software updates (not sure it needs that). Hence when I turned the truck on it would connect to my home wifi and hence the Apple CarPlay would not connect since the truck’s wifi was connected to my home wifi. I disconnected the truck from my home wifi and now the Apple CarPlay connects automatically every time. Just another option to troubleshoot issues.
