The EPA excuse is a bunch of baloney. If it were true, how does Ford offer a 36 gallon tank on their gasoline half tons and Dodge offers 34 gallons on their trucks.

There’s no way to reprogram the GM trucks for a larger fuel tank. The fuel gauge works on them as normal but range calculates the same as a factory tank range. I put the larger capacity fuel tanks on two trucks, neither learned or changed Range with 100k+ miles between the two.

Now it isn’t cheap but it’s not hard to do. A floor jack, jack stands, chalks, and remove the drive shaft. That will get the job done but with a car lift it takes less than an hour.

100% worth it, had a gas 1500 for a few weeks, felt like I had to stop for gas constantly. I forget when I put fuel in my 2500, I’ll stop if I see it’s cheap or wait until it’s getting low.

Its not because of the size of the tank, the EPA regulations make it difficult for the aftermarket companies to engineer, and manufacture the larger fuel tanks. So much that the aftermarket companies don't offer them, and only offer larger tanks for the diesel trucks. So you can get a larger fuel tank for the diesel 1500, but not the gas 1500. Spoke to two of the companies about it, and the reasons were the same for both companies.

With the EPA regulation rollbacks, I wonder if we will see any auxiliary tanks start to roll out for the gas engines.

If you have a gasser all you can do is have an auxiliary tank installed in the bed. Not a direct feed to your original tank but a supplemental Wasn’t an option for me. So I traded in a 2024 Elevation 5.3L on a 2025 AT4 3.0 Duramax and had a Titian tank installed. But that’s because I pull a camper. I love the diesel, never going back to gasser ever again.

Good afternoon all. I have also been searching for this as I drive a fair bit for work, pulling a trailer often for this as well.
Often driving anywhere from 3 to 5 hours away into remote areas with very limited (if any) stations.

@Oncewas - my understanding is that the Titan tank is a diesel only tank with a different sending unit and evap lines.
I would love to be wrong about it, but that is what I have read online and talked with their suppliers. If it was a gas unit as well, I think I would have pulled the trigger on it already.

Oh sorry. You are 100% correct the Titian is for Diesel only. When I looked before I traded my 5.3 Elevation in on the 3.0 AT4 I looked for an extened Gas fuel tank and was told I could not get a replacement tank but could add a tank in the bed. So I just assumed you were looking for a Diesel fuel tank. Sorry again.
