I also moved the factory horns down under the passenger headlight assembly to make room for the control module. I used the factory horn mount to secure one tab of the relocation bracket and bent over another tab and used a self tapping screw to mount. It is solid and this allows access to the control module under the hood.

OK, For those of you wondering if you can mount a winch other than the Comeup winch without any modifications... I was able to easily install a Warn Zeon Platinum 12s in the AEV bumper without removing the entire bumper or making any modifications to the bumper or factory trim. I purchased the Warn long extension control module relocation kit, I used 3/4" shim between the winch mounts and the bumper mounting plate and purchased 3/4" longer mounting bolts (Grade 8). That's it! Took about 5 hours total.

Thanks for the info Dura. I'm planning on installing the same winch in my 2025 AT4x this weekend. What did you use for your 3/4" shim? Your install looks great!

Thanks,

Jim

Originally I used stainless steel washers and stacked them to 3/4". I switched to 3/4" aluminum spacers from a previous project that I had in my nuts/bolt collection. Good luck on the install, I am sure you will love how it turns out!

Dura,

Thanks for posting this info up! It really helped with my install!

I'm down to the final wiring. The 2 gauge ground wire isn't long enough to reach the battery. Did you ground the winch to the frame, or did you get a piece of 2 gauge wire and extend the ground?

Thanks,

Jim

Never mind. I was able to reroute the wire and barely got it.

Thanks,

Jim

Dura, do you have any pictures of the location you put the horns to? Also, do you need the install kit AEV sells in conjunction with the ComeUp setup or did you have everything you needed with the Warn setup?

I bought the AEV kit thinking I needed it. The only thing I used was the front license plate bracket (which I attached a spring-loaded license plate holder to). You don't need the kit. Make sure you get the Platinum relocation kit if you install the platinum winch....

Thanks Jim! That’s what I figured but thought I ought to check. I live in WA and need to sort out a solution for my plate eventually. That being said I hate to block my cool winch from view 😂

I live in WA and block my cool winch with the front plate, screwed in by thumbwheel screws; it is what it is.
