I'm picking up my new 2026 2500HD AT4X AEV this week and am already planning the AEV 37" upgrade.
My plan is to build it exactly as AEV intended:
The only thing I'm trying to figure out is the spare.
- AEV 37" Clearance Kit
- Salta XD wheels
- 37x13.50 tires
I've read that the Salta XD wheel doesn't fit in the factory under-bed spare location (although I've also seen a few posts that suggest some people have made it work).
My thought was to keep one of the original AT4X AEV factory wheels and mount a matching-brand 37x12.50 tire on it as an emergency spare. If it fits underneath when aired down, I'd carry a Viair compressor to air it back up when needed.
Since the overall diameter would be essentially the same, my thinking is it would make a much better emergency spare than carrying the factory 35" tire.
Has anyone actually done this?
I'm looking for real-world experience before I start buying wheels and tires. Thanks!
- Does a 37x12.50 on the factory wheel fit under the truck?
- Has anyone successfully stored a 37x13.50 underneath?
- If you're running the full AEV 37x13.50 setup, what are you using for a spare?
