AT4X 2500 Worst truck experience I have ever had.

So truck comes incomplete, been working since December to get it complete. I personally have heard nothing frrom GM, no Im sorry what can we do to get your truck going etc. still can't get the AEV badge from GM. Now my Power steering goes out with less then 5K Miles, Metal found in the fluid so now I have to have the entire steering system replaced, Ohh and one part on back order, doesn't sound bad until you know how many months back orders take. Ie my badge, it's been 5 months? Skid plates 4 months (IE missing) got a few GM friends who are putting the brakes on buying new trucks now because of my experience its been horrible. I feel like i just got taken at the poker table for 100,000.
You said “metal found in the fluid”. I thought the Sierra has electric power steering and there is no fluid. Or is that just in the 1500? The owner’s manual for my 1500 AT4X 6.2 clearly states that there is no power steering fluid.

Power steering fluid, also runs the brake hydroboost.

There is Fluid on 2500, that is correct about the brake hydrostat. So the rack gear box had a gear come apart, which caused the contamination, after the gear box was replaced, the pump was still squeeling, they replaced the pump. After that was replaced you could feel the system including the breaks shudder, on the steering wheel you could feel it wasn't smooth. GM said do a sample test and they did and it came back with metal in fluid , which calls for a total replacement of steering system.

OP - did you know about all of these missing things when you bought it? It sounds like all your truck has from the AEV package is the bumpers. Why did you take delivery if it was missing so much?
My Truck had bumpers and the seats AEV, missing skid plates and the rear tailgate emblem. I live in Alaska , After the covid, limited supply of trucks and I had been following the GMC 2500 AEV edition, really wanted one. I got rushed with a guarantee in writing to correct the missing items but to go through with the purchase, sounded good, and they have over the last 5 months made it good, except for the small AEV badge on the tail gate. Front skid plate wasn't sent with the mounting hardware, so they had to back order that. Your point is valid, I trust the dealership to take care of it.

Thanks for replying, I was curious and hope you knew about all of the missing items before agreeing to take it.

I'm a GMC guy, but I have to say when my wife gets her Lexus serviced they're much more professional than my GMC service dept.

I think the difference is cars like Lexus or Mercedes or whatever only sell higher end models. So they are trained to treat you like royalty. They pick my wife's car up from her garage, and leave a loaner. When it's done they drive it back.

The average GMC / Caddy dealer sells buick and some sell Chevy too. So you may have bought a 100k sierra or a 120k escalade, but the service mgr and techs just got done working on dozens of Bolts, or Sparks, and whatever Buick sells these days. I'm sure they're the same as the guys servicing someone's Nissan rogue.

Now it would be messed up for them to treat higher priced vehicle owners better. I don't expect that, but they should treat all of their owners a little more like a Lexus owner. That's been a complaint of mine for a long time. I don't see it ever happening so I only bring my truck to the dealer unless it's absolutely necessary. If I can fix it, even under warranty I will.

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!

Unless your local dealer is Northwest Chevrolet GMC Cadillac of Bellingham; they treat me like royalty, manager, service agent, receptionist, security, salespersons, parts guys/gals, cleaners, service techs etc. I also own a Mercedes Benz and my local Mercedes dealer also treats me like royalty. Surptisingly, neither of my two vehicles were purhased from these respective dealers; the truck came from a lousy dealer in OR and the Benz from a very nice dealer in NJ where we lived previously.

The following is just me (most of the time) and is not a reflection on anyone else; took me a lifetime to get there.

I find there's a reason both dealers treat me like royalty or for the matter wherever I go. It all starts with 'me', I try and leave my arrogance in the trunk, treat others like royalty, being humble, caring and empathetic towards everyone, I talk to everyone about their well being, not only those I need something from. This attitude is contagious; people see me coming a mile away and want to talk to me.

Having said that, I'm still working on getting to know my wife better, we've only been married for 46 years, not quite long enough :D

My dealership is great to me and my wife. Bought my truck from Murray GMC in penticton BC Canada. The owner is awesome and always checks on us when we are at the dealership. We didn’t buy my wife’s Yukon from them but take it to them for servicing. So with our dealership when we take it in for oil changes they take video of the undercarriage and in the engine bay and give us a report. This was new to us and asked them if other dealerships to this because I never seen them do it at my wife’s old dealership. Service manager said that they are the only ones doing it so I was pretty impressed.
