AT4 vs AT4X Issues

@Recon4146

A Comeup winch is the easiest way to go; the Warn winch is not an easy install although it has been done. Although I've yet to use my winch in an emergency situation, I'm extremely pleased with how my local GMC dealer did the install.

Waren's will fit Badlands will and that same formfactor the issue is you need if you want to use the free spool lever "for lack of knowing what to call it" ive only seen extended on the Comeup. If you don't care or have small hands and armes you could use most any winch that you can relocate the control box off of the top of the winch to say the wheel well. but that handle is extended so you can operate it without having to reach down into the bumper to pull and twist the knob/lever... but as far as the bolt pattern it's the same universal pattern. Hope that helps

I relocated the controller on my Warn to under the hood of my Bronco. Also added a 500a relay and ran to an upfitter switch so there isn’t any juice to it until it’s time to winch & I power it on. Keeps the controller out of the weather and adds some safety so you don’t get an accidental fire if in a wreck since the power is dead until switched on.

I plan to do similar when I get my AT4X.

As far as the clutch / spool lever they can be clocked in various positions on Warn. Then you can use the following kit to extend the clutch to where it makes sense.

Figured I'd put it here being their my problems and issues (lol)
I got the premium tow and 4 wheel package and was wondering what differences there is between the two
Started thinking, damn it would have been sweet to have a wench
Is there more to it than just changing bumpers?
So how do you guys like the X? was it worth the upgrade?
My son got the X. I got a bigger rig. He loves the truck. I pick every vehicle apart in one way or another. Yes. Change out the bumper. You will need it. The rest of the truck is pretty robust for a small truck. Great suspension, pretty good power, awesome features, and sharp aesthetic. This is a great rig except.....
1. gas mileage isn't great for a small pickup. He is getting 15-17 on the highway. For a college kid in Utah, that is painful.
2. don't break a headlight! It is a molded single-piece light that will cost $3000-3500 to replace. (Ask my son how he knows.)
3. Info-tainment system is great when it works properly. However, it intermittently stops working and goes silent.

Honestly, I am pretty impressed with the truck. I hope you like yours as much as we like ours.

I have the evo 12 if you have the AEV bumper then you can go to GM and get the install kit for the Comeup winch which would line up the spool to the fairlead with included from memory like 1/2 -5/8's steel shims and I was all about using the Waren but never seen this and couldn't reach the free spool lever and so ended up getting the Comeup. this must be new. thank you where were you with this info a year ago. but to be honest mine has the steel cable because I don't like how cheep the Waren mounts the synthetic line with a expensive crap quality screw i've seen two snap with 4+ raps of the line on the spool and nothing close to their rated capacity not even 1000 lb on either one that snaped so I went with the steel when I bought my Waren but then synthetic when I bought the Comeup. food for thought. Waren does sell that screw so id grab an extra if your using the synthetic line. both guys were respooling their winch and pulling their rig across the ground when they snaped
