AT4 / ENGINE REPLACED

I bought a brand-new GMC 1500 6.2L AT4 back in 2025. Never have an engine recall. At 39K miles, lost power, and ended up replacing the camshaft and lifters. 2K miles later went back to the dealer for engine replacement. Is this a lemon-car or what?
Going thru this right now with my 2021 AT4 Carbon Pro. GM 6.2L V8 has major issues and problems becoming more widespread as vehicles age. Luckily have extended warranty.

Still major PITA. NHTSA investigating (mine was not on recall)

UPDATE: Attempting repairs, damage not as severe as expected - one valve lifter became unseated causing pushrod to bend. Replacing that, and all pushrods.

$5k-ish all in, warranty covered majority.

We bought a new ‘06 Zo6 and in addition to other mulligans the valve guides were machined .0002 off.

When the 427 warmed up and ya gave it power is when it would act up.

Heads were replaced on a silent recall as were the bad roller bearing lifters if I recall.

I sold it to a guy in France when cancer hit me and more issue appeared.
Gave me what I paid for it new. The Atomic Orange color a good selling point.

His money transfer cleared the bank and I dropped the car off at a shipping agency and never looked back.

Wife’s AT4 EV has kept her happy. GM has apparently worked out the bugs.

Sales up 3.3%.
Gas hit $6 a gallon here and $46 charge on the road gave her 500 miles. Free charging at home.

Yeah, she’s aware if something serious on that EV truck pukes out of warranty they’ll have to put her to sleep to hand her the bill.

She did the math leasing vs buying resale value after 3 years and it was a push.

Reminds her of her dads 396 el Camino she learned to drive in, add knowledgeable sales girls, heavy discounts,,, she bought.
