Anyone have issues with a Range DFM disabler on a 6.2L? Would you reinstall it?

I have a 2024 GMC Sierra with the L87 6.2L and have been running the Range DFM/Auto Start-Stop disabler. I absolutely love it. Constant V8, no auto stop/start, and it’s easy to install/remove.

Last month, the truck suddenly threw multiple CEL codes and went into reduced acceleration/power. I removed the Range module and had the truck towed to the dealership.

The dealer couldn’t pinpoint exactly what failed, but ultimately replaced the ECM, which is also where the Range module plugs in. Since the ECM replacement, the truck has been running perfectly.

I contacted Holley/Range and they were pretty adamant that their module could not have caused the ECM failure. Their explanation was that it doesn’t tune or reflash the ECM; it simply intercepts the signals needed to keep DFM and Auto Start/Stop disabled.

So now I’m torn. I really want to put it back on because I loved how the truck drove with it, but having an ECM failure on the same connection the module uses makes me a little nervous.

Has anyone with a 2022.5+ Refresh Sierra/Silverado, especially an L87 6.2L, had anything similar happen while running the Range module?

Would you reinstall it and keep running it, or leave it off after an ECM replacement?

I don't know that I would blame this on the range module exclusively. Millions of people use them and never have any problems. You're already in one of the most unreliable ticking time bomb of a platform on 4 wheels. There are lots of other causes that could fry an ECM to include bad grounds, bad batteries, updates etc etc. those codes and reduced power are also common with the valve body failure so you never know.

Yes similar….ran it for months and it was great as you noted. Loved it. Truck went into limp mode and dealer advised fuel pressure module is bad. I contacted range and they say the same as you stated. Now my camera is bad so they say….
They also replaced the torque converter and it still shuttered, now they are replacing valve body in transmission. When I get it back from the dealer I’m nervous to reinstall. Could all be not related, but ….
