Any method of removing the speed governor

You need to get a programmer. I tune , HP etc. I m in Montana and cruise at 100mph daily. Never had a problem. It’s nice to have the power on these Mountains and passing. There was no unlocking the 22s and above at one point but I thought they solved this? If anything get a tuner to delete AFM/DFM and auto stop adjust octane 87-91 etc. Totally worth it.

It's a truck.....wanna go fast get a motorcycle.
If the governor was 110 maybe? But it’s too slow for passing. Then again depends on where you live. Some of you in congested areas never drive over 70? But it’s a must here in the 4th largest state.

I'm sorry but I drive in Montana often, there is still no reason to go over 100 MPH even passing. Speed limits are 80, passing at 90 is a regular thing but if you need to go over 100 MPH, it's called Reckless Driving.

You don’t drive in MT enough. Most out of staters are trouble. I drive 100 from Zootown to GF weekly with many others. The Canadians seem to think it’s their autobahn too. We will just agree to disagree.

It’s not called “reckless driving” Montana had a speed limit of “reasonable and prudent” for years. This was the norm. It was only changed because out of staters caused accidents. Your view and my view of reckless are not the same. The stretch from Spokane to Seattle is some of the straightest HWY around. There is no reason it shouldn’t be 85 mph minimum and 100 is a safe drive on that road. Some of the states are still 65mph and It’s a joke, but if you’re used to it then 85 is scary.

I have the Edge EZX it lets you adjust many things including auto stop button and speed governor.

Agreed 100%. There is never an instance where it is worth risking a ticket or the motoring public's lives to get somewhere.

My take is it's not very smart to modify in consideration of taking one of these trucks much over 85 mph , let alone 100 mph. Regardless of state you live in. When something happens at those speeds it happens quick.

The law still says 80 MPH speed limit. Trucks and SUV's specifically become more unstable and more dangerous to drive above 80 MPH, and as someone who has previously raced cars at much higher speeds, 140+, I understand the instability and there is a point where the vehicle becomes a danger to you and others, and it has nothing to do with fear.

Montana Code Annotated 2023
TITLE 61. MOTOR VEHICLES
CHAPTER 8. TRAFFIC REGULATION
Part 3. Vehicle Operating Requirements
Reckless Driving
61-8-301. Reckless driving. (1) A person commits the offense of reckless driving if the person:

(a) operates a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property; or

(b) operates a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property while passing, in either direction, a school bus that has stopped and is displaying the visual flashing red signal, as provided in 61-8-351 and 61-9-402. This subsection (1)(b) does not apply to situations described in 61-8-351(7).

Also, here's the facts on the history of Montana's Speed Limits, they have been in place since 1999.

Key Dates in Montana Speed Limit History
Pre-1974:
Montana and Nevada had no posted daytime speed limits, relying instead on a "reasonable and prudent" standard.
1974:
The federal government established a national 55 mph maximum speed limit to conserve fuel during the 1973 oil crisis. Montana drivers caught speeding were still only fined a nominal $5, which didn't go on their driving record.
1995:
Congress repealed the national speed limit, and Montana reverted to its "reasonable and prudent" standard.
1999:
The Montana State Legislature established the first numerical daytime speed limit in the state's history, setting it at 75 mph.

The reason I keep coming back to this thread, I lost a close family member to a driver doing far above the speed limit, who drifted across the line and hit her head on, she died on scene, just after telling the paramedics to get the kids out first. One of the little girls in the back seat, has several brain damage and will be under care the rest of her life, her older sister has horrible scars across her face, and she will have to live with that the rest of her life. There is a time and place for speed, that's at the track, I don't care about location, when I lived in west Texas, 85 MPH was the limit, 90 was a normal speed most days.

My issue here is your blatant disregard for the safety of your family, the people around you, and yourself. Hopefully you make it through life without being the one who ruined the loves of others, because you are in a hurry.

I'm so sorry for this. My reason is a bit different as I drove professionally for my last almost 20 years as a career before retiring. The countless collisions I witnessed from speeding are ingrained into me.

We can only share our experiences. Even with data and irrefutable proof it will be impossible to convince someone who is determined to break laws and risk the motoring publics safety.

I do find it odd and disturbing that forum member would post on social media doing something illegal such as: "The stretch from Spokane to Seattle is some of the straightest HWY around. There is no reason it shouldn’t be 85 mph minimum and 100 is a safe drive on that road." There is no public highway in the US where going 100mph in a lifted truck is safe. The tires alone are at their very limit of speed rating.

Thank you for the reassurance that my stance on this is valid. Anyone who has ever driven from Spokane to Seattle on I-90, knows it is not straight, and people are killed every year from speeding. I do believe that highway should be 70-75 MPH, and I am fine with 5 over, most officers are as well. 20-25 MPH over the speed limit or more is the legal definition of reckless driving.

I could understand someone maybe asking this for something like drag racing or some off highway use, but for daily driving on a highway it is uncalled for and unreasonable. I can't imagine knowing that every post or every comment online is traceable back to the human who wrote it, and I certainly wouldn't go admitting to things this illegal online, one accident and then the FBI can easily pull up everything you've ever said online and use it against you.
