Android Auto Won't Connect via Wireless

I have had my 2026 AT4 for about 3 weeks now and it is a constant struggle to get the android auto to connect or consistently connect wirelessly to my phone. I have tried AI suggestions and gone about it more than a few different ways and I can get it to connect if I work at it, but it shouldn't have to be so hard. Sometimes it will connect on its own. I will take any suggestions and please forgive me if this as already been discussed. Thank you all.

Did your truck just recently get an update? My truck did and my phone was having troubles connecting via bluetooth. I have an iPhone. The truck wouldn't find my phone via bluetooth consistently. What I did was to go into my setting for bluetooth and had it forget the truck. Then I reconnected the phone to the truck via bluetooth. That seems to have solved my connection issue. You might want to give that a try.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did give that a go yesterday. I have had my phone forget the truck and tried having the truck forget the phone and reconnect all again. I have a Samsung galaxy. I have some unfounded suspicions that the google system that comes preloaded on the infotainment system is forcing android auto to take a back seat.

Does your phone connect via android auto if you plug your phone in with a usb-c cable? If it connects, then it's probably a bluetooth issue. If it doesn't connect, then it's probably an android auto/Google issue.

I guess you could always try 'rebooting' your truck. Take the negative wire off the battery and leave it disconnected for about 10 minutes. Reconnect and see if the system reset helps.

thanks for all the suggestions. it does work just fine when plugged in. Its too early in mine and my trucks relationship for me to try the reboot. Its likely the fix but my last name is Murphy and right now in my mind the its not a big enough pain to be worth the risk.

I too had Wireless AA issues. My solution for now was to go into the settings on the truck and turn off "Fast Start up". It basically forces the infotainment system to reboot each time you start the truck. Takes maybe an extra 20-30 seconds to start up the infotainment system. However, if you remote start your truck (I do every time since I'm in the Phoenix area and it's hot as heck outside) it starts the boot process then. That has cleared up 99% of my connection issues.

Got my truck last Saturday and immediately left on a week long work trip Sunday. It was hit or miss for connection the entire time and randomly although showing the phone connected and on a call, it was still going through the phone. The whole head unit is super slow too which is obnoxious to touch any feature and then need to wait five seconds or more, especially when it's reminding you to "keep eyes on the road". Plus the seat setting for driver one key and selection one don't seem to always see eye to eye and I'm either perched up high on slung low. It takes me forever to get a seat dialed in as it is, I don't need the truck to keep messing with my emotions too.

I turned off the fast start on the truck and that helped the first day. The next day, back to sometimes it works sometimes it does not. I love the truck and I guess if that is the worst problem i have after having to replace the transmission twice, rebuild the motor, and be told it needed to be replaced totally in my 2019 Silverado, I guess it aint all that bad.

Having the same issues and can only get it to work when I connect my phone via cable. Didnt pay this kind of money to have this issues. Had the radio replaced and still does not work.

I traded my 2020 AT4 LM2 with upgraded 2021 HMI module to allow for wireless AA and a Z Innovations 12.3" screen. I actually miss that truck and tomorrow will be three weeks as well. The UI across the board on this new one leaves much to be desired. Now have a 2026 AT4X 2500, and have less love for the feel. My wife has traded her 2021 AT4 LM2 with identical mods of my 2020 for an LTZ Trail Boss. She takes delivery Mon when the get the powered boards on. I'm standing by for the string of complaints heading my way.

Agree the UI leaves a lot to be desired for sure and I hear many are changing ut the infotainment centers to after market ones. Not sure how god they are but once the warranty is out on our truck I will definitely think about having someone change it out. Not sure if it will be worth it but it would be better than what they have in there now. For now if I want to use the android auto or apple car play ill just have to connect it using the cable I guess.

Screen lag is insane and the random home screen returns while doing something totally else is infuriating.
