After market skid plates

Not enough pressure to clean the underside with such a sprayer especially for a salt/brine rinse.

After we returned from Whistler BC last Saturday, I spent a few hours Sunday, washing off salt and brine from all around and especially the underside of my truck, thanks to the height/clearence above ground, it makes the job easier. I use hot steaming water at 140F/72psi from a spray nozzle, attached to a hose bib on the side of our home, getting deep into and rinsing every nook and crannie, below and around the truck. Fortunately the skid plates below the AEV are easily accessible for a thorough clean too. I followed this with a hot shampoo wash, rinse and dry before parking it back in the garage. The next day all tires received a fresh coat of dressing and the truck is back to its new look.

Seems @Azgasser and @pinebaron has it figured out the best for cleaning. Might be easier to move next door to one of them and let them clean my truck too! 😜

A separate thought — either of you bang on those skids enough to shear a bolt head yet? Seems unlikely and minor but I recall a guy on the Bronco forum that really beat on his rig and managed to do it. I can’t recall if he found a set of skids with flush heads or “engineered” something.

Looks like both RCI and Talon has exposed/raised heads. Not sure about the AEV skids. Wish they would make a flush option.

Never had an issue with losing or scraping a bolt on any skid plates despite having driven through rough, stoney and dusty trails. Mind you, I haven’t used the truck for rock climbing, rather leave that to the jeep guys 😀
