Currently in a 2017 1/2 RAM Limited with 197,500.

I grew up in a GM/Chevy family. All of my previous trucks were Chevy. The time has come for a new ride. I am contemplating going to a 3/4 ton gasser. l do not need a 3/4 ton. However, I will most likely have this new truck for 8-10 years. So the thought is that going to a 3/4 ton will allow me to do anything I may want in the future.

Currently there are 3 trucks on my list; RAM RHO, RAM 2500 Limited or 2500 AT4X/ZR2.

Has anyone gone from a newer RAM to the AT4X (or the other way around)? Or from a 2500 ZR2 to the 2500 AT4X?

Let me hear your experiences.

Thanks!

I suggest test driving everything and not relying on forum opinion on what's better or worse. What I like might not be what you like or need etc, unless you're looking for mechanical opinions - I do have two words of caution on the gas ram - cylinder deactivation.

Don't completely mark off the Ford 7.3 gas either. I'd pick the Ford gas over GM. Also if you're the traditional truck owner, it's only a matter of time before you start modding. There aren't many suspension upgrade options in the aftermarket world right now for an AT4X which does differ quite a bit from a traditional at4 and comes at quite the premium vs what you can buy doing your own upgrades.

I went from a '14 Ram 2500 Limited to a '16 Ram 3500 (Dually) Laramie Longhorn to my current '24 2500 AT4X. The seats in both Ram's were way more comfortable and I had a lot less electrical gremlins in both Ram's. I don't regret my purchase...I love the AT4X and just deal with the gremlins in it.
