24 AT4 exhaust upgrade

Hey there jakrbt, your 21' with the flow master Super 10 sounds great. I have been thinking about putting the same muffler on for a while and I have a question. I currently have a 22' 6.2 with a muffler delete that I have been rockin' for about a year and a half. It sounds great but I find there is a little too much drone in the cab when pulling a trailer or at certain rpm's. Did you find there was much drone with the super 10 muffler? any chance you have any more pictures or videos of the exhaust from your 21'? Thanks in advance for your time. If anyone can recommend a muffler that will keep a fairly aggressive sound but help lose the drone, it would be appreciated.
Honestly there was a little drone at certain RPM's but nothing terrible. I had no issues at all having conversations at normal volume or hearing my radio at lower volumes. I unfortunately never got around to making anymore videos after I shot that one, even though I always had intentions to do so. But I never had any complaints about how it sounded in the cabin. Fairly quiet under normal operation and definitely there when you get on the throttle. I will say on cold starts it did get pretty loud, though.

Yep my last couple 6.2 had flappers and removed with Borla exhaust. Like I said some people cant hear or dont care if there is a drone. I drive long distance and it is unbearable to my ears. If you have the wrong ratio you will get drone mild to obnoxious. I like loud outside and quiet inside.
The Borla systems sound great but what kept me away was the cost. $1500-$1800 for an exhaust system just wasn't worth it to me. $400 for a muffler swap and 3" pipe was much easier to swallow......and sell to the wife. I have a feeling if I told her I wanted to do that on my '24 AT4X she'd likely shoot me! She has already asked if I could do the Super 10 on it, though....so maybe there's hope

I don’t think the exhaust for the 6.2L has changed that much through the years and Ive seen countless videos where the flappers are cut out of the system and it is fine. Plus…if you do replace the exhaust with a cat back system from Borla or any of the other many exhaust system available, those flappers are removed anyways. So Im pretty sure it wouldn’t be an issue to get rid of them.

Accept for the check engine light that will come on for not having the electronic valve hooked up.

I went to the exhaust shop today to talk to them about upgrading the exhaust on my 2024 with a Flowmaster Super 44. I am curious about how this works with the active exhaust system. The shop did not instill much confidence in what they could do since it’s a new truck. They have never done one of these systems before. They seemed a bit nervous about doing and that makes me nervous. Has anyone upgraded the muffler with this system?
I'm dealing with the same thing on my 2024 AT4 with the 6.2 and the active exhaust. I want a little bit more noise but mostly a deeper tone. The 6.2 sounds pretty good in sport mode but I want a little bit more. The dealer says that there is nothing out there right now that would be much of an improvement over stock. Most people think that these 24's still have those huge 40" mufflers and the tailpipe resonators, but they don's and are actually very small. I think that it is 3 1/2" single inlet and dual outlets. I'm not sure of the size. If the electronic valve is disconnected it will throw a check engine code/ could affect the warranty.

I had one local shop suggest to do two staggered 3" mufflers with a with a Wye inlet and then use all of the stock piping, including the valve after the muffler.

There are no sound clips of this being done yet and I didn't feel like being a guinea pig, in case I did not like it.

Here is a picture of the muffler on my '24 with the 6.2. The muffler has 1 inlet and 2 outs. The outlet with the actuator lines up with the inlet, the other doesn't. I assume they line up as a pass through. After the 2 outlets they Y back together and Y again for each tail pipe.

Thanks for the picture! Most don't understand how much different the 2024 exhaust is versus the previous years.

I just got my '24 AT4X 6.2L on Saturday and haven't had an opportunity to crawl under it to find to the actuator, but as long as it's not in the suitcase muffler, you should be fine to replace just the muffler and pipe. I actually did a FLowmaster Super 10 on my '21 AT4 6.2L and LOVED how it sounded. Check it out and see what you think.

I have seen this on YouTube. That sounds sick! I have been going in circles with this shop now. I will change my exhaust at some point but this shop is out!

They called me this morning and told me that the muffler that they needed, they couldn't get right now.

I am just going to go somewhere else.

Did you change your exhaust or is that stock?
