All,

Purchased my truck new June 1, 2025 with 14 miles. Other than end links, alternator, and auto lockers before 36k miles, it was a good truck. Driving mainly highway miles, I had put 75k on it by early October 2026.

Travelling on the highway with the cruise set at 75mph on October 6, I heard a bomb go off under the truck. With immediate loss of power and terrible metal noise when pressing accelerator, I came to a quick stop on the shoulder. With smoke and fire catching on the shoulder, I eased the truck forward a couple hundred feet.

The fire department came to extinguish the fire, and the tow truck came for my truck.

Turns out my transfer case exploded and projected oil and sharpnel outward. Thankfully I was in the right lane and not a motorcycle next to me.

So the parts been updated. Im a month in with no end in sight. Trucks sitting at the dealership. Thankfully?, I had an extended warranty. I immediately called GM for assistance. I was told by theor second tier, that no assistance, even rental coverage would be offered as my truck was 15k past power train warranty.

As soon as I get the truck back its going to be sold/traded. I am officially, after 30 years, no longer a GM consumer.

Good luck with your vehicles all!

Sounds about right for GM quality. Unfortunately you're unlikely to find the competition any better. Gotta go older or upgrade to a 25/3500+.
