2025 Duramax Diesel - COLD Below Freezing Temperatures Preparation

Turned my truck on at 1 degree. The engine light appeared and my app related issues with the fueling system. After 30 minutes I took it for a ride, it stuttered for a second and continued accelerating normal. Day later it warmed up to 12 degrees shouldn't the engine light automatically disappear.
Depends on what the check engine light is for, some will automatically clear when power is cycled but some need to be manually cleared with a reader / scan tool or by disconnecting the battery.

I just had a P04fb (crank case pressure out of bounds) that is commonly caused by the crank case pressure sensor being obstructed due to moisture / ice buildup on the sensor. After temps warmed up and the truck was running normally I had to manually clear the code.

And to add to @TX_Critter list, some will clear after a certain number of key cycles and drive cycles, also.

We had -5 for a high Saturday and -29 to -36 for the low Sunday morning, -7 when we left and she fired up okay - Redfield, NY

Truck fired up okay, after sitting in that all weekend.... Probably should have turned generator on and plugged in while we rode out breakfast loop Sunday morning.... But was in a hurry to get out and not mess around with the truck, in those temps - Hot shot EDT+ working well for anti gelling.

Truck needed a bath badly when we got back.

-36°F? Straight temp or wind chill? I did not know NY state got that cold!

Straight temperature - wind chill is just media sensationalism 😉

It's often that cold up there - we had -21/-22 two Saturdays ago. Past years we often have -15 to -20 days. Dresers properly cold isn't to bad....but Sunday morning snowmobiling the snow was not ice but was like concrete where they had groomed.

Saturday's high was 12am and just locked in the cold all day and night into Sunday, fortunately Saturdays wind died down for Sunday....only issue was facial hair freezing to baclava and helmet lol

Take a genny and torpedo heater, for if we have any issues - and additive in fuel
