2024 2500/3500 Build and order status

New member here. After waiting seven months on a 2023 F350 to be built, only to hear Ford dropped my order and i need to reorder as a 2024, I switched to GMC

I placed my order for a 24 3500 AT4 Premium with 6.6 gas last week. I’m anxious to read the forum posts while waiting for my GMC to be built
Welcome!

Congrats on your order. We have at least 2, '24 2500HD's with the 6.6L gas in them at our dealership. Primarily for service trucks. The engine has been impressive power/performance wise. More so than the old 6.0L gas. Overall the trucks have been 100% reliable as well. Only issue is the fuel mileage, lol.

Decided to go with the truck that has the lifetime powertrain warranty and paying retail. The dealer in Tampa definitely has the better price but told me today it’s up in the air when it will be built and delivered. The one I put a deposit down on today is scheduled for delivery to the dealer Aug1-5th so hopefully will have that here soon! They’re going to deliver to my house and haul off my previous truck.

Sounds like a decent plan. The price break is great but if the availability of the truck is unknown that certainly is a concern. Especially if there is a price increase issued by GMC in the time frame it takes to get the truck from the Tampa dealer. Defiantly worth something to you to have them deliver it and take away you trade all from your house. Good luck!

Hi all - I have been on the hunt for a 2024 AT4 3500HD gas. I found one that was built in June about 3-4 weeks ago, it will fit the bill but will need to have running boards added. Dealer said the truck was moved "to the off site yard". I am wondering, how long once they get off site do they get put on a train?

It's in Michigan and I am in MN so guessing transit won't be much more than a couple weeks once its moving.

GMC emailed stating my order was accepted on 6/30. Dealer informed me today 7/24 that my status is 3300 with a build date of 8/7. Estimated they would have it 30 days from the build date.

We ordered a '24 2500HD SL work truck back in late January and it was built in mid to late March. Then it sat "offsite" near the MI factory for about 3 weeks. After that it was loaded on a rail car and was at our dealership in about a week. Now my new '23 1500 AT4 sat at the IN "offsite" lot for over a month with absolutely no explanation as to why. Once it was loaded on a rail car it was about a week out till arriving at our local dealer. Id say yours may be 2-3 weeks at the offsite area until being loaded on a train. Then hopefully just a week out or less for delivery to your dealer. This transportation situation is defiantly very "fluid", haha. Consistency is not the norm.

This is the info I needed. Sounds like this truck has been built and sitting off site for 2-3 weeks already, so might be a couple more weeks and it will arrive. I am thinking about putting the deposit down to hold it.

DenaliCountry,
Since it's a 1 ton from MI and not a 1/2 ton from IN or Mexico I'd say it should be shipping most any day now. If it was a 1/2 ton then I'd say the wait is a going to be a little longer. Just going of my experience with orders for me personally and for our dealership fleet. Sounds like an awesome build on what you have coming! I don't think a deposit will change anything in the order to deal speed. It could guarantee you get the truck as soon as it lands and it doesn't end up getting pedaled by another sales person at the dealership. 😉

I agree, it happens to be close by which helps and has already been waiting for a its ride to MN since 6/20. So I think it should be getting on a train or truck pretty quickly. In order for them to put my name on it they require a deposit so will probably go that route in the morning.

I understand 100%. I don't think that's a bad idea at all. It's always a tough waiting game when you know your truck is so close to landing but still a few days away. Anticipation really begins to grow!

Just by using the live chat on the GMC or Chevrolet sites. Or by my dealer giving me an update from there dealer screen. I'm not a GMC dealer. I'm actually a John Deere dealer here in central MD. Sorry if I created any confusion, lol. We can track Deere orders very well to be honest. Way better than any GM brands dealer.
