2022 Refresh Order Experience

Well, the dealer says, the truck should be at dealer by sometime next week and then they are going to do the dealer inspection. I’m thinking sometime around Feb 20th I should be able to pick it up . About 2 weeks short of 1 year since I ordered it.( 2022 Refreshed sierra 1500, 6.2, titanium rush, premium package, ). Dealer did give me about a $2700 discount off the original price they quoted me a year ago. But my trade price went down about $5500. ( 2018 F150 , 2.7, Sport with 40,100 miles, almost new tires with 1000 miles on them). I think I might try selling truck myself to try to recover some money? It’s been a long journey.🤷‍♂️

This truck is a AT4

My long journey is also coming to an end. Expected delivery betwwen Feb 17-27, just short of a year from order. Then a flight to Idaho and 9 hour drive home.
I sold my 2014 AT3 in July and backed out of the deal, I am guessing I will be lucky to get 4k less now.
Looking forward to this being over.

My dealer also believes GM was doing a 1st in last out of the lot in Mexico. Mine must have been one of the last Cayenne Red AT4's manufactured. If I don't take it the 23 Volcanic Red looks about the same. The moment I drive it off the lot it is a 1 year old used vehicle .

Perhaps but model years are so inconsistent amongst manufacturers anyway .

On the contrary It will have much lower miles / year driven on it though which will help resale value whenever you do try to sell it .

If I am looking at 2 used trucks that are identical models , and are only separated by 1 model year and have identical features , then I am going with the 1 that was driven less . A lower miles per year indicates to me that the truck was not pushed as hard and perhaps better taken care.

I went through the same mental gymnastics as you in December when I bought a 22 AT4X off a dealer lot that was made in June and also sat in the Mexico lot.

This is how I justified it and I do love my truck! Not planning on selling it anyway .

I also paid $5k less than a 23 AT4X would be.

So…. I finally received my truck yesterday, 2 weeks shy of 1 year.. So, I picked it up and drove it home(50 miles ) and everything seems fine on my way home. I got home, hopped out of truck to open garage door and smelt a weird odor. The oder reminded me of a burning barrel that someone threw plastic into it. I didn’t smell anything in the cab on my way home, seems to be outside of cab. I opened the hood and didn’t smell the bad Oder by the engine. Walked to back of truck and Oder was very strong. I felt brake rotors and they all were cooled down. Hopefully it just some foreign materials on the exhaust system and will burn off?? Called dealer and they discussed it and thought it is some sort of foreign material/ sticker, undercoating etc. I’m going on a 4 hour trip Friday, and hopefully the smell dissipates??? Been a long experience and hopefully it all end well🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤐🤐

Sorry it took a year to get from your order. Mind wasn’t that long, but still unbearable nonetheless. I’m glad you got it. As for the smell, I had a similar smell (burning). For a couple days after I got mine. Mine went away in a couple days. I think it was maybe stickers, shipping material or other. I hope it goes away like mine did. Good luck with it. What did you get?

Ok, thx for the responses, I crawled under truck and could see some black splatter on the exhaust system and the tail pipes smell was very strong. Thinking this is problem and will burn off with some time. My truck is a Titanium Rush AT4 with the 6.2 . I have 20” tires and premium package. Taking a longer trip this weekend to give it a good test.

I picked my truck up last night and finished the 750 mile drive today. I like the truck and am glad the year long experience is over. I also had the burning smell for the first 200 miles then it went away. I also have problems with flat spots on the tires from sitting so long hopefully they will go away. Glad others have picked up trucks.

I did get some discount off the original sticker. I wrote a very long text to the dealership about my reasons for a discount ,etc truck a year old , so it is already about $2000- $3000 loss. Plus my trade in also depreciated a lot. So, they gave me about $2800 more off. So the sticker was originally $70500 and I paid $65700 plus tax and license.

I also decided to sell my old truck outright, so I didn’t trade my truck into dealer. So , by doing that, I gained another $1500

Received GM email that my truck is at the New Richmond, Wisconsin distribution center. Dealer called with the price of 64,030. Original MSRP of 66,750. I was hoping for more of a discount but accepted the deal. Just glad its over.
