Windshield wipers running on startup

Just used windshield wipers for first time and now they run on startup. Also, i don't have any intermittent wipers and they don't park when you turn them off. Thought I saw a thread about software updates, which i have not had, that might affect this. I have to manually park them and guess when to release the lever or they are half way up the windshield. Any thoughts are appreciated.
