What gear is transmission in?

Good question. I have wondered this myself. I admit I have basically never used the manual shifters on the steering wheel yet. But have considered it after seeing a YT video where the guy claims staying in "9th" gear manually as your highest gear keeps the fuel management system shut off. In other words, would keep the truck from going to 6 or 4 cylinders, which of course is blamed for lifter problems in these trucks. So I have considered trying out the "stay in 9th gear" thing myself.

Too bad there isn't a tuner for these newest Gen trucks to disable AFM, top speed limiter, etc. Hoping one comes out soon.

The L9 trick does work . I use it all the time now driving around town on my 22 AT4X. No AFM or Auto Start/Stop . It is must more fluid and enjoyable to drive . The Borla exhaust sounds way better too!

Of course I would rather have the Pulsar but as alluded to earlier it isn’t available for refresh models yet .

Great to hear! I'm gonna try the L9 trick. Not that I have noticed an issue so far really. I never thought AFM was worthwhile, nor worth the lifter issue risk.

Last time I looked they still do not support the refreshed models

Yeah, I did extensive searching online and could find zero tuners that support the refreshed models.

Just got my new wheels and larger tires on today. I will have to hand figure the difference between the stock tires and new tires (Nitto RG 285/70R18). I think it is about 2" difference in height between the tires. Since I can't adjust the speedo for the new tire size, just have to got with it.

As far as the AFM - same thing. Gonna have to live with it being on, or do the L9 trick, which I still can't find where it says what gear you are in.

When you are in L9 it will be in any gear up to 9th. You can’t tell exactly but it creates a high limit of 9th gear

Yes it won’t show you the actually gear you are in. It’s just sets upper limit and it will automatically shift through them up to that gear selected.

I see it now. Thanks for the pics, helps a lot! Hard to see that with all the info in the DIC without knowing where it is.

The Banks I Dash has been updated for the 22 refreshed and should now work with the 23s including the 6.2 but it wouldn't hurt to check if you want to buy one?
