With a little over 1600 miles on my new '23 1500 AT4 with the 6.2L, I'm a week out yet from getting the GM performance exhaust (Borla) kit in my possesion and installed. I have put a lot of research into this upgrade for sure. First off, watching videos of the GM kit as well as the Borla S and Attak kits. Not to mention, Flowmaster, Corsa, and Magnaflow. I have listed to a few actual GMC/Chevy trucks in person with some of these kits as well. In the end, I was drawn to the GM (Borla) kit for not being too loud, GM warranty compliance, practically no drone, and the look of the kit and tips. I chose kit # 19419433 with the bright/polished tips. I will be glad to update this with a decent before and after sound/look video here.

I have the Borla Touring on my truck and its about the perfect sound. No drone even towing. Not too loud but loud when you want it to be. Cold starts sound like a truck should sound. My truck is an AT4X so I have the turn down tips which are not visible from the rear. I kinda don't like that but it is the way GM does it on the X.

roy826ex,
What you are saying here has been a consistent response for the GM kit. Thanks for the feedback! I actually have listed to the Borla S and Attak in person on a customers truck and with a friends SUV, GMC 1500 SLT with the 6.2L and the other on a Z71 Tahoe with the 6.2L Actually rode in the one with the Attak on the Tahoe. Mabey just a tad bit of drone with the Attak but not bad at all, defiantly the louder of the 3 Borla kits. I have rode in other makes of vehicles with Flowmasters and the drone is annoying for sure. Some models of their kit are worse than others. I am looking for the same aspects as you from this GM kit. I also agree on the dislike for the hidden/turn down tips on the X.

I have the Borla Touring on my truck. Its the same or similar to the GM model. I really like it. I personally would of gone with the Sport but my wife hates noise. So I have only been approved for touring model. The ATTAK is way to loud for me but my young boys love it loud. Overall Im happy with the BORLA Touring and have had it on my last 3 GM trucks.

kobra357,
Thanks for the response! My wife was the same way, lol. I got "semi" approval for the GM kit (Borla touring) but that was it. She's not a loud fan either. But funny enough, on her '22 ZL1 Camaro, the factory exhaust is loud in the track mode. She doesn't complain one bit about that either. In fact she leaves the adjustable exhaust mode in track any time she drives it. 🤣

I can relate. I had a Charger with Corsa exhaust and it didn’t bother my wife either. They would defiantly get along. Lol.

Haha! How about that. Must be the image of a performance car that makes it acceptable, lol. I wanted to just get the bolra touring muffler for her Z71 Tahoe (daily driver). Since it's got the 6.2L with the factory dual exhaust and round shiny tips. Unfortunately I was told no!

Yep, that is a definite NO here too. My wife is content with what came with hers too.

i had the dealer add the borla exhaust option with black tips before i took delivery as it didnt come with it. love it. cold starts backed up to the garage or wall is just a lovely sound. driving down the road is perfect as well. not annoying on long drives. just enough to know its there.

The truck already had the exhaust and you were able to add just the black tips? Do you remember the cost? Thanks.

Buckeye23AT4,
That's what I have learned as well concerning the GM kit. The cold start in an enclosed space sounds awesome! Getting back to Kobra357's question, did the truck come from the factory with the kit and all the dealer had to do was install the tips you wanted?

it had the stock exhaust. so before i picked it up i asked them to add the borla exhaust with black tips $2,429, sliding tonneau cover $1,519, color matched fender flares $780 and the fixed side steps for $1,145. all a must for me.

As I was mentioning before I don’t think you can add just the tips. Im going to paint the “ HDMI “ tips and call it.

Buckeye23AT4,
Sounds like a great list of accessories. Even with the stock Duratrac tires and 20" rims, when i put tire shine on and then wipe it down to prevent sling, Im still getting some on the sides of the truck. Would the GM fender flairs help with this? Do you have a picture of our flairs on the truck?

I'm not a huge fan of the HDMI tips, lol, but painted black or a very dark charcoal would make them way better for sure.
