Two things that annoy me about the new truck

I have a 2026 1500 AT4X.

1: Auto Stop. Just annoying.
2: Squeaky dash panels. One is the fuse panel by the front passenger door. The other is to the right of the climate control, which starts to squeak as it gets warm beyond a certain temp inside the cab.

I've seen threads on both topics here.

I watched this video a while back before issue #2 came up (
) of how to install the autostop eliminator. The number of panels that have to come off made me nervous and I thought I would just deal with it and try to make it a habit to push the off button every time I started the truck. But then when the panels started making noise, and they happen to be two of the several panels that have to come off to fix #1, I decided to go through with it and ended up buying the autostop eliminator and some insulation tape to fix both issues at the same time. Hope to get to it this coming weekend. I'll report back.

I went with the Range disabler. It plugs in and piggy backs behind the driver side fender liner. Took 5 mins to install. Works great with the auto start-stop but also feel like I have more power on demand with it always being in 8 cyl mode.

Pigpen,
Thanks so much for the link. I took a look at it and so far, I like it better than the kind that plugs into the OBD port.

I did the Autostop eliminator. Very pleased with it and had no issues installing it. Not sure how the other ones work but you still have the ability to use the factory switch. One warning however, make sure you protect the black chrome trim on the radio bezel if you don't fully remove things as the clips in the back may very well scratch things! Ask me how do I know!

I use the carbyte auto start /stop eliminator, plugs into OBD and reads and clear codes. Also deactivates DFM at a certain speed but shifting to manual and setting in in 9th gear works better.
Carbyte was giving them away here in the group last year to test on the '25s so I got mine for free.
Not sure if they will do a give away for the '26 models or not?

I also went with the range afm disabler and really glad I did. When I take it in for service I just remove it with no worries.

Not sure which engine you have, but I have the Duramax and honestly the stop start has been great and no issues (also just a quick press to the disable button).

I have a 2024 and I have no rattles at all, actually one of the biggest compliments I’ve had with this truck. May want to make sure all of the panels are seated properly or just take it to get warrantied and have them replace a piece or two.

I have the Duramax, as well.
It's personal preference, but for me the auto stop is annoying. I was glad that my previous vehicle did not have it, even though a lot of cars already made it standard at that time. Now that I have it on the truck, I don't like it.
Glad you got a truck without noisy panels. Mine squeak, and honestly, I don't want the dealership taking apart the dashboard. They won't be treating the truck like it's theirs, but I will.

I have a 2026 AT4 3.0 Duramax... I noticed a noise coming from the dash. Glad the problem is identified. Take some pic's as you fix the problem. I will be watching for your progress.

I put my auto stop eliminator in with one arm in a sling. You can do this. Scariest part for me was popping the info screen out. Hardest part was disconnecting the plug on the backside. The panels pop right off.

Got it done this weekend. Followed the video instruction and no issues at all. Just like kbadeaux69 said, pulling back the screen and control panel was a bit tense, but it all worked out. Really glad I did it.
Also installed insulation tape on the inside of the noisy panels. It's been colder here so we'll have to wait until a warm day to see if I fixed issue # 2
