Well, I've tried to order my new AT-4 3500 Long Bed (172") for three months now without luck so I'm considering buying one in ND and having it transported to Ma. The dealer initially quoted $1,500 but now that I have the actual offer the transport fee is $2,500. Any suggestions about options for transporting a new truck?

For that amount of $ I'd fly there and drive it home with one overnight stop somewhere

Laura GMC is closer. They usually have good prices.

I would fly also. You can break it in the way you want and don't have to worry about getting any possible damage. Another plus is a ND truck probably has Federal emissions not the California Carb emissions. Just check and make sure you can register it in Mass. Look at the window sticker it will tell you.

When did GM begin releasing trucks with different sets of emissions in different states? What emissions will a ND truck have over Commiefornia?

Years and years ago. Not so much the equipment but tune.

And beings we are in the HD forum, he must be getting an HD. It will also have the cab lights!

That was my first option but since I plan to keep the truck as long as my last GMC (18 years) I’d need to take 3 days to make the 2000 mile trip. I’ve since got the dealer to eat half of the $1000 overage so I’m inclined to ship it and break it in here since it’s only got 8 miles on the odometer.
Flying to Williston is $400-600 then there’s tolls, gas, lodging and meals so no sightseeing in North Dakota in February for me.

3500 AT-4 Long Bed gasser in Volcanic Red, go figure there have been zero of these trucks available in Eastern US for the past three months so I'm having it shipped 1900 miles to Mass.

Well, she’s finally home. Between snowstorms and increased gas prices, I’m glad I had it shipped. She arrived with 11 miles on the odometer, so I can break her in properly. Of course the first thing I had to do was install the Diamondback HD cover that I purchased from the outlet at a $750 discount which allowed me to justify adding the headache rack.

Yes, the wife is lobbying me to do the same on the running boards. I want to change out the tires for larger ones but will wait till the factory treads are worn out. No question if I add bigger shoes, I'll need a lower step.
