Strange. Mine, with 20" Goodyear tires is rated at 18500#.

Where did you see the 12000# capacity? On your door jamb?

Yes Sir on the door jam. I was looking at a Black one and a white one, identical in every way until I spend the door and said to my salesman what's up with this. Michelin. vs Hanook??? Hanook is more expensive on tire rack, both same weight rating Class tires,

What was his answer? Without knowing the tire specs, I can't look up the rate rating of them. But 6000# is alot!!!

His answer is 6500 difference. I thought I was lucky just to find a new 2500 truck at a GM dealer. The two trucks they had in stock both had 18" wheels, 275 70 18's. I was happy with 18s for replacement cost alone and having to buy snow tires in winter for plowing snow. Dealer was puzzled, no ever asked the question or noticed. On GMC build site they only offer 2 tires. I even went to Tirerack and asked them, both class E tires, both with same Load range only difference was speed rating one was S the other was R. Since I seldom travel at over a 100mph speed rating shouldn't matter. Ha. Stupid.

His response is hilarious. But from what I have seen, that sounds like what kind of sales people we have here.

I am certainly not trying to say you are incorrect, I am just surprised. I can't seem to find a 2023 GMC Trailering Guide online, but I do find a 2021 which of course is the same body style.

I can only see that the lowest trailering capacity for a 2500HD is 14,500.

Due to current supply-chain shortages, certain features shown have limited or late availability, or are no longer available. See the window label or dealer regarding the features on an individual vehicle. Preproduction model may be shown throughout this experience. Actual production model may vary.
  • Aggressive tread may result in a higher level of noise while driving
  • Routine tire rotations are highly recommended
  • Note: This tire has a reduction in conventional trailering capacity. See dealer for details
Se dealer for details. Ha so I asked the Dealer. He was clueless. Asked service manager, same reaction. It wasn't until we opened the door and read what it said on door post.

No more surprised than me. Ha Almost as surprised as not being able to choose rear axel ratio. Ration changes with tire size.
Go figure. Can you tell Im 73 years old and bought a lot of trucks. LEARNED A LONG TIME AGO that 3:55 s weren't enough 3:73 s worked and 4:10 we just too much. but I'm a retired embalmer, what do I know

OK

That is interesting. Is the Payload changed as well?

weird, my 22 AT4 gasser w/20" conventional towing = #14,500. Hard to believe at duramax has a lower trailering capacity.

I just built a 23 at4 duramax with the18" mud tires. Screenshot shows it will lower trailering capacity.

2nd screenshot shows that the gvwr is the same as mine, so depending on options the payload will be close to the same.
