Has anyone tried this device?

It looks legit but the owner says he has not been able to try it with the parking sensors since his truck is missing them.

I’m really not sure why this doesn’t work from the factory without a trailer! It also explains why the rear wheel camera is so grainy - it’s using a sliver of the same trailer side camera, just zoomed in.

Word of caution here. My friend owns a 4wd shop. Had a customer buy the undertailgate light bar. Did not wanna pay to have wired in, so just plugged into trailer socket ( like this ). When he sold truck it showed he had been pulling trailer 85k of the 90k on truck. Remember, these trucks track miles and mpg with and without trailer.

So update I bought this and the truck does think there is a trailer hooked up it asks about lights but I don’t get that trailer icon on the instrument panel. It also changes the blindside alert to the trailer blindside. Should I be worried about the truck in town haul mode all the time ? Is it in tow haul mode all the time and will it record mileage in tow mileage?

You have to put your truck into tow/haul mode, it does not automatically do it just because something is plugged in. However, it does think there is a trailer behind you and records the milage as towing. This could be a issue when you sell it.

How do I see if it’s being recorded as trailering mileage?

Being it’s not in tow haul mode it shouldn’t record as that then

Something plugged in is what makes the truck believe it has a trailer- hence this hack works. Being in tow/haul is not what does it. Some people, myself included, tow light to moderate loads and do not select that mode. I know other guys who run tow mode all the time- not as much shifting and winds up tighter before shifting and makes the Borla talk more.

Thanks .. how would we know if our mileage is being recorded as tow mileage then ?

I will have to look for where to find it. However, in my truck, when I plug in a trailer the distance to empty goes down- so it knows my mpg is lower with a trailer plugged in.

Hey guys, just wanted to follow up here that I finally pulled the trigger on this govan industries GMC camera plug and it works great! It enables the lane change cameras as if you were towing a trailer. \

The reason I waited so long on this was originally because of your feedback and that I did not know that you can set the trailer mode to "accessory" and it no longer thinks you're towing a trailer. Occasionally when I start the truck i do have to change it back to "accessory" mode because it thinks a new trailer was plugged in, but that's nothing compared to the convenience of having this.

The only thing that this has disabled for me is the rear park assist. The blind zone monitors still work and so does the rear cross traffic warning and breaking. Again, i'll trade rear park assist (you have a camera anyways) for side view when changing lanes all day.

P.S. if anyone has wondered why their rear tire cameras are so grainy, i think this also explains it. That camera view is just a zoomed in and cropped version of this view. Dealer never could explain that to me!

Do you happen to know if this will work on a 2024 AT4 3500. The Govasind website shows the application is for 2019-2023. Thank you.

Does anyone know if the Govasind GM Camera plug works on 2024's. The Govasind website shows 2029-2023. Maybe they just haven't updated their site to reflect 2034's.

I would be it would. It’s the exact same operating system! I’m sure they have a return policy.
