Hi,

I need some help in trying to figure out how to resolve the following trailer connector 'running lights'. I'm attempting to use the 7-pin plug and it's saying pin-3 is faulty (see picture).

All the rest of my trailer lights on my camper seem to be working just fine (i.e., brake lights, turn signal lights, brake controller, etc).

Can someone please help me ASAP?

Thanks.

Any lights out on your trailer? I bet there is one.
I can't get any of the trailer running lights to come on.

The right turn signal, left turn signal, and brake lights all work on the trailer. In addition, the brake controller in the truck works just fine as well when the trailer is connected to the truck.

Additional details...

I'm getting 12V at the FUSE location for the 20A Trailer Parking Light, so I know the fuse isn't blown. I've also tried a different camper trailer and the same thing is happening on the second camper trailer. Could it be that the 7-pin plug needs to be replaced?

Picture seems to be showing both 7 pin and 4 pin type connectors and showing that the 3 pin is faulty regardless of connector type.

Contacts clean on female and male conectors? is there a break in the trailer side connector/wiring for the running lights?

I would start with turning off the truck, unplugging the trailer, disconnecting the +ve cable from the battery, touching it to the ground post to discharge any stored capacitance, then reconnect it, and plug the trailer back in again. Let us know if it helps.

What exactly will this do to resolve the issue?

I found that on my trailer there was a bulb out… I didn’t see the bulb, so I just towed. My neighbor told me when behind me. So my advice is hook and book

Has anyone ever replaced the trailer lighting control module? If so, is there any special programming that needs to be done? If so, is that something I can do or do I need to have it done at a dealership?

I did in my 21' 1500 AT4. It was very straightforward and no you dont need a reprogram. It is a plug in module. The most difficult part was figuring out how to drop the spare tire to get it out of the way for clear access. There are YouTube video's out there. I watched a coupe to get a better idea of what I was in for.

Just to update this Forum Thread, my issue seemed to be related to the trailer lighting control module. I replaced mine in my truck today and now my trailer running lights are working again. Thanks to everyone that jumped in here to help me diagnose and fix my issue I was having. Here are some steps I used to replace this module.

Thanks for the update. I will keep this in the memory bank. This is a first, usually when the module fails, the running lights don't shut off until the truck is shut off.
