Thousands of Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Trucks are Sitting in Vacant GM Lots Right Now
"Kelley Blue Book Senior Editor Sean Tucker said that it is because of the lack of railway cars to transport all of the trucks to distribution centers and dealers. 'About 75 percent of the cars in America travel by rail to where they are going,' he said."

I guess this is why I keep seeing so many trucks are "In Transit".

There are all also bottlenecks in the rail yards, waiting for car carriers to deliver them to the dealerships. Mine was stuck there for a month.

In transported vehicles, there is a GPS tag hanging from the rear view mirror. The dealerships have access to the system that can track the location by VIN. They can even see when the vehicle gets moved from the initial parking space to the staging area where it gets ready to be loaded onto a car carrier.

How about this, since nobody wants the vehicles just sitting there, why not drop the price about $2k and we all buy flights to Ft. Wayne and drive our trucks home? Good way to break them in. Although, I'd be peeved (yes! irked) if I got a huge rock chip in the paint before I was a able to protect the paint.

Last I heard, they are still missing parts. Not sure if that’s true.

Just How do you protect the paint from rocks? That would almost be a miracle lol! It’s a stinking truck Man- Drive it😜

So 2024 ordering should be opening up possibly next month. I’m assuming those who are waiting for their 23’ will get 24’ ? Or am I wrong?

I placed an order for a '24 almost a month ago. They should be retooling and start building the '24s July 17 from what I've read. Have you received notification your '23 is built? As the topic states, you may just be waiting for it to be transported. That's what I worry, if my '24 gets built, do I wait until all of the '23s get shipped first? That would be rough.

Used to be that if you bought a Corvette or Harley Davidson you could go to the factory and pick it up. Don't know if that's still an option.

Talked to one dealership and sales guy says he has to wait till next month to place orders for 24’ since they are still shipping out 23’

Interesting. I went to mine, almost a month now, and they got "new systems" that wouldn't allow me to place an order for '23. This is when I found out they removed the sand brown color. The sales manager couldn't place the order because that was stopping the order. I changed it to red and it went through. I obviously haven't recieved a VIN yet, as I believe they're retooling for '24's and won't start production until 7/17/23.

Forgot to say I’m up in Canada and we are probably behind on everything. Ordering, allocation ect….

I placed my order end of may and it was accepted 2nd week of June. ordered 24 at4 Duramax. Now I’m stuck at 3300 with no TPW, been at 3300 for a little over 2 weeks. Do you know where you’re at on your build.
