I was at the dealer the other day getting my new steering wheel installed (only waited 18 months) and just happened to walk outside because I saw a 2024 AT4X in thunderstorm grey, with the
6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine. I thought to myself, "man, would I ever like to own this truck, until I looked at the sticker. It was $96,275.00! That's more than I paid for my first 2 houses, combined! I've always been a diesel guy but at those prices fuhgeddaboudit. I love my AT4 gasser but whenever a diesel truck drives by, I always take a good look at it. With those prices I guess I'll just be a dreamer. 😂 Who buys these trucks at that price?

Thought the same when I saw new 2023 1500 at4 the other day. I paid 53k for my 2021. These were all in the mid to upper 70’s.

The two I saw at a local dealership here in Alaska were $105k and $108K!! I dont think I could drive a $100k vehicle off road.

I'd be afraid to leave a truck like that in the parking lot at Home Depot or anywhere else for that matter. That price is just ridiculous.

So a gasser would have been about 86K. Is that any better?

I priced out an 2024 equipped as my 2022 hd gasser. appx 7,500 more. crazy

The MSRP on my nicely equipped 2022 AT4 was $55,530. In fact, this is the fanciest truck that I've ever owned, it's got all the bells & whistles. After my GM employee discount and the equity on my trade-in, then all the bullshit fees and sales tax, the total that I financed was $38,706.
So, if one bought that truck for $96,275 plus sales tax, no downpayment, the monthly payment for 60 months would be $2003 per month. :ROFLMAO: That's more than my mortgage payment was!
Back in 1999 I bought my Ford F-350 Powerstroke 4x4, crew cab, if my memory serves me correctly, for around $33,000.
That's 1/3rd. of today's prices.
I've had several other diesels, both Duramax and Powerstroke but don't have the paperwork for them and can't remember the figures but they were no way near $96,275. My 2022 AT4 will be the last truck I ever buy.

Yeah, I get GM Employing pricing too. At $75k MSRP I figured my new truck days were over. My 1st new Sierra Denali MSRP was $41k in 07’. These prices are nuts.

That said, I just saved a little and caught a 2023 the dealer wanted to get rid of. Got GM Pricing plus $3k in rebates so I bit the bullet. Hard to pay this much though.

Unless you tow all the time , and tow big, you don't need that big diesel. The DEF and emissions are a pain, the mpg is lousy, always in regen, no get up and go. I downsized from a 2018 Duramax 3500 to a 2023 6.2 1500.

I’ve always had 6.2s and get over 20 mpg plus great power.

I went from owning 4 Cummins thought the years to a 1500 6.2 because I couldn’t keep it out of the shop, not the motors Fault it was always something with the trans or emissions and it was a limited. I don’t tow a 5th wheel anymore my travel trailer at max gross can be 8k so we will see
How this tows it in the spring.

I owned a 1998 Cummins' for 1 year but got rid of it because I had so much trouble with it. There was an oil leak that the dealer could not find, and the truck wandered all over the place, I could not drive it in a straight line. I probably could have gone thru the lemon law, but I did not want to waste my time. So, I traded that POS in for a 1999 Ford F350 Powerstroke (my favorite truck of all time), but now I buy GM products because I get the employee discount (my brother-in-law). I opted for the 6.2 instead of the diesel because I don't tow anything anymore, besides when I got rid of my last diesel, a 2018 Duramax, fuel was almost $6.00 a gallon. I still sometimes wish I had a diesel but all that bullshit with DEF, regen's and so on turns me off. I looked at a 2023 AT4X Duramax that listed for over $96,000., no friggin' way will I spend that much for a pickup truck.

100% agree that the prices are insane same with BASS boats. But my question to you is where the heck do you get two houses for under $100,000..... BTW - I live in northern California.

I'm talking about my first 2 houses (first house 1969, second house 1977). Here in NY housing is much more reasonable than California but like anything else prices have gone thru the roof (no pun intended). The house I live in now has increased 3-fold in the 13 years since I had it built and there aren't many houses on the market now days, which increases the price. It's definitely a sellers' market. Where in Northern California?

69' heck you're even older than I am. I can't believe there is land where you can build a house. I'm a little south of SF on near the beach. Pacifica. The AT4 and the Ranger boat are kind of my retirement presents......but you're right they sure do cost a lot. Started the process to get my AT4 in 2022 and it took me almost 2 years with all the covid BS.

Yep, I'm old,:p I may be too old to cut the mustard but NOT too old to lick the jar!
Yes sir, the builders are eating up land in Western NY so fast that there won't be much left for us hunters.
