Squeaky dash 2023 AT4

Yea, I've got it.... Some idiot who designed it forgot the part in materials science class where two plastic parts made of the same material will squeak when they touch...

It’s getting worse for me. So much so that it happens on smooth roads and with the radio playing softly in the background. I think I’ve isolated to the climate controls or the rocker switches piece causing it.

My 2020 AT4 had a bad squeak on the passenger side somewhere. I could never isolate it. I had the truck at the dealer a few times for other things, and they could never figure it out either. I bugged the hell out of me. I usually have me radio on, and that mostly drowned out the squeak.

On my 23 AT4X I don't have dash squeaks. I do have a rattle that has developed when my sun roof is open - open as in propped open on the back side. I rarely have it fully open, just open so it is propped up on the back. It has a rattle when propped up. No idea what from, I have looked and can't see anything. Pretty tough to look when driving, obviously, and would be quite dangerous so only looked and tried pushing/pulling on things with the sun roof propped up while parked. I dunno what it is.

I will give it until the first oil change to see if these parts wear off those sharp edges and settle in before making a fuss at the dealer. Hopeful that this happens as I’d like to avoid having the dash taken apart.

I've got it too. It's the trim piece between the screen and the hvac controls. If I press on it a few times it goes away for a while but once the interior warms or cools it comes back. Annoying to say the least. Will wait for my first oil change and ask dealer about it then if it's still happening.

I agree. Temperatures will have an effect on things as well.

In my other vehicles I've used this dynaliner foam to add to the back and between panels to resolve rattle that annoyed me.

You'll have to pull the panel off and cut a strip to fit the area. I like the foam since it compresses to fill gaps and prevent rattle quite nicely.

Funny thing is my roomba is also covered in it to prevent it from scratching the feet of some of our furniture.

Hope everyone is enjoying their ride!

Have about 2k miles on mine and it’s either the a/c controls or the trio piece above the controls creaks and squeaks constantly. Anyone experience this? I was hoping once things break in a bit and settle a bit it would go away.

Happy moto
Curious as to how this all played out. I just bought a 2024 AT4 at the end of April and I have the same issues. For that kind of money I don’t think there should be any squeaks and creaks.

The issue comes down to the design of the dash.
A basic thing taught in materials science is two of the same materials that touch will squeak as their coefficient of friction is the same. The AC controls and the display bezel are the same material, so the designer who specified that should have been told by the engineer to change it, but alas, nobody did and here we are... I fixed it with some thin felt tape I was able to fish between the two panels.

Yea it makes sense, just aggravating really. The heat makes it way worse, 70° this morning on the way to work with hardly any squeaking. 85° on the way home yesterday and that’s all I could hear was the plastic noise. Did you by chance get any pictures of where you put the felt liner? It seems to me it’s coming from all over the dash but I might just not be trying to pin point it good enough

Yep, plastics expand in the heat.

Basically right above the start button, was able to get some through that spot as that was where I pressed and it would go away.

Ok thanks I’ll see what I can do about that with some felt tape. Might try and gently pry it into any gap I can find, see what happens
