I had reserved and ordered an AT4. I had been tracking it through the GM chat and received this information after the truck status was at 4800. “At this time, your order has reached a point that requires follow-up with your selling dealership. Please touch base with your dealer at your convenience for more information.”

I contacted the dealer who informed me that after the vehicle was off loaded in California it got sent to a dealership in Montana and that there was nothing they could do to get the truck back.

Has anyone ever dealt with this or did the dealer blow smoke? I had put a refundable deposit down and had been waiting 4 months for it. I’m completely confused and frustrated at this point. Thanks for any in-site.

dealer should contact dealer in Montana or you should. I would think that is some legality to putting a deposit down with an agreement to deliver the product.

Dealers will say anything. Is there a chance they sold it out from you to a manager or big time customer? Do you have VIN?

When I was buying my 2015 I was working with a local dealer that I was very happy with. I found what I wanted on a dealer lot in S FL. My dealer said they called the Tampa dealer and that vehicle was actually in Chicago as a manager demo. Back then it was common to do dealer swaps. I called the Tampa dealer directly and they said, no it's right here. 7 Miles on it. I bought it from them. Somewhat different situation but my first point still applies. One or the other was lying.

I found the vehicle in Montana and called their dealership. The Montana dealership said it was their allocation the whole time. The sales rep at my local dealership had kept me informed the whole time about the status of the truck while it was being built and the truck even arrived in California at the rail station near the dealership before it got turned around. I’m still trying to contact the GM of my local dealership, and I agree someone here is lying. I just don’t know why they would spend all that time and energy updating me every other week about the status of the truck and it getting shipped to my area and then getting sent to a dealership 3 states away.

What does the window sticker say? It will have the dealer listed in the bottom right corner. Sticker should be available online.

Thanks for the info. I’ll attach that part of the window sticker. Next to the vin it says “re issue” not sure what that means.

I've seen that re-issue before. It's like when you view the window sticker in pdf format, compared to the vehicle's sticker.

I would have to come to the conclusion your dealer was blowing smoke. But I don't understand why? What would he gain from it, 'cept a pi$$ed off customer. I have a hard time believing it's a gm computer glitch. VINs are nothing to screw around with, but anything is possible.

Thanks for the info and help I really appreciate it! I’m waiting to have a chat with the GM tomorrow hopefully… The sales rep said he had three years on, maybe he didn’t understand how it all worked. Either way, my time was wasted and now I have to either reorder with a different dealer, or maybe I’ll try out of state and figure out how that all works. It’s hard finding standard bed AT4s in my area.

Well, it looks like she is still available, if you want to take a road trip and it's what you built, to your specs...

I had to travel out of state to get the '22 drw in dec of '21. It wasn't hard at all buying out of state in person.

What gemarsh said. I picked up my '24 3500 in Arkansas on 29 Sep and drove it back to Texas. All the registration, etc. was done in the registration state.
