Apologies if this has been addressed before. I noticed since engaging Auto 4wd, that during acceleration, there is a slight vibration that i feel in the front end. As soon as I reach desired speed, the vibration stops. I switched back over to 2wd, and acceleration was smooth. This test was done on the highway, on dry pavement.

Anyone else experience similar effects (I dare it call it an “issue”)?

Thanks y’all.

All I know is that the dealer said do not use auto 4wd unless your off-roading or live where it’s a snowy roads or in actual slight need of auto.

It could just be that the axels are in gaged with the transmission just not in gaged to the wheels so maybe it’s just a normal vibration my guess but I never use auto

Normal. You're front drive shaft is engaged in auto. That's the vibration you're feeling. That also reduces mpg. If you don't need auto just keep in 2hi until you do.

Like most others, I only use Auto 4WD when weather is bad, most importantly when there are patches of ice. Advantage of Auto 4WD is additionally when going slow in parking lot when icy - I hated on my old full 4WD getting driveline binding making tight turns, so I have go 2WD then immediate re-engage 4WD again..... essentially not being able to use 4WD just when you need it (on tight turns, not knowing if there's ice or hard pavement or both). I chose GM (in this case GMC 2500 AT4) in order to get Auto 4WD, not because I'm a fan of GM HD's.

I gaurantee if you crawl under your truck and put your hand on the front driveshaft you will have some up and down movement. This is your vibration issue.that driveshaft should have no movement whatsoever and if it does your going to get vibration at certain speeds and acceleration.U joints took a shit or didn’t get greased. It is happening to a lot of trucks and it is an ongoing issue
