I’m reposting my introduction thread post here to see if I get more exposure and recommendations…..trying to decide on shocks! See post below from Introduction…..thnx

Howdy from South Texas! Just bought a ‘26 AT4 2500 Duramax. I’ve been running Ford since I bought my first F250 in 1976 and have been a Ford guy ever since with a few Chevys and Dodges along the way! I’ve been running a ‘21 RAM 2500 for the last 5 years and was trying to buy a Ford but they just don’t seem to want to work with you on price! After seeing the price difference between Ford and Chev/GMC I started looking at Chev/GMC and really liked the ride and the way they handle! Long Story short, I ended up with the AT4 and am glad I did! I really like the truck! I’m in the Hunting Business(almost 40 years) but don’t use a pickup in the pasture much any more……I have CanAms and Rangers for hunting. I use my truck to haul ATVs and my boat but also protein, cottonseed, etc to feed locations in the pasture! I guess what I’m saying is, I don’t take full advantage of the capabilities of this truck as an off road vehicle even though it does spend plenty of time off road…..3-6 miles off pavement to my camps! I’m really more interested in how the truck rides on and off the hwy…..that’s why I joined this forum….to get some tips as to how to set this truck up! I’ve always put Bilsteins on my trucks in the past and the RAM I just traded came with Bilsteins! Since I haven’t put them on a GMC, I’m just wondering if they are the best way to go or if you guys use another shock for a smoother hwy ride…..I plan to level the front end and then change the shocks if I get enough advice here to make that decision! Thanks and looking forward to learning from y’all!

I've been running Fox shocks (non-reservoir) with a BDS 2.5" level for 2 years with zero issues.

Check out dirt king. They came out with a HD I believe. Their YouTube has a video explaining their R&D process
I’ve been stoked with their stuff on my 1500.

IMO, FOX hands down for anything. That said I have Bilstein right now only because during the plandemic there wasn’t any FOX available. I prefer FOX but Bilstein are exceptional too.

On a side note if you do just a little research you will find that these 2 shocks are recommended just about everywhere. There are some other really good shock’s but for this price point these are the best.

Fox 2.0 with external reservoir's here. Night and day difference in ride over the stock setup.

I’m finding that out…..seems like everywhere I search, Fox and Bilstein are the most popular! Thnx

i have been looking at those. through my research, i have realized the shocks are made by Elka, but valved differently 🤷🏻‍♂️

I did the basic yellow bilsteins and it completely changed the truck. The Rancho just doesn't have the compression and rebound to control the heavu truck. It doesn't control the impact. So the truck bounces multiple times after you hit one bump. To make it more plush honestly the easiest solution is just dropping air pressure a little in the tires to take the edge off.

I don't daily drive my truck. Mainly use when towing.

Correct. Rebranded Elkas with their specific shock tuning. They also service and rebuild them in-house which is nice. Really can’t go wrong with replacing stock shocks, anything’s better than the ranchos

I will be going with these once I’m ready to swap tires.

So if ordering shocks from Shocksurplus or any other vendor and want to keep OEM lift what lift shock does one order for front and back. I'm interested in getting the Fox HTO 2.5 series when I change out my tires.
