Just picked up my new 2024 Sierra 1500 AT4 Diesel on Friday and on Saturday morning when I started it, the Service 4WD message came up on the dash. The buttons for Auto, 4H and 4L are unresponsive and my emergency brake is engaged.

My truck only had 200 kms on it
and I am frustrated and disappointed at the same time. I spoke to the Dealer, they reprogrammed a module, but it didn’t solve my issue. They told me they were going to order a part to make the fix, but it wasn’t available in Canada and was coming in from the USA.

It only seems to happen when my truck is cold, as I live in Canada and we are in mid winter. I noticed that once the engine is warmed up I can shut it off, then restart and the Service 4WD alert is gone. Once the message is gone, Auto, 4H and 4L all function again.

The same thing has happened on Monday, Tuesday and again today. The only morning it didn’t happen was Sunday when I had it parked overnight in a heated garage.

I read a few forums where people experienced similar issues, but thought that was on trucks back in 2019 and 2020. Has anyone experienced something similar and if so, how was it corrected?
